PRIZE OF RS, 300, FOR A TRANSLATION OF
JAIN WORKS.

The Managing Committee of Seth Hirachand Gumanji Jain Boarding School, Bombay offer a prize of Rs. 300/ three hundred to a translation of any one of the following three works. (१) सर्वार्थसिद्धि of पूज्यपाद.
(२) अष्टसहस्री.
(३) प्रवचनसार.
The aforesaid three works are prescribed for a course of Jain Philosophy in M. A. Examination of Bombay University and the English translation of the said works should be primarily intended to facilitate the study of the work by the students of the same.
Critical notes along with the translation would be preferred tò a mere translation.
To save an unnecessary trouble to intending translators it is proposed that they should send to the undersigned a specimen of the translation of not less than a hundred Gathas of or of not less than 20 pages of the printed Edition (Jainendra Press) of स्वार्थसिद्धी or a hundred shloks from अष्टसहस्री.
The special qualifications of the translator should be communicated to the undersigned. After examining these specimens the Committee will declare whose translation is preferred and the translator thus approved will be asked to complete his work. The Committee will have the full rights of the work after the prize is awarded.
The specimens should reach the undersigned before the 1st. of May 1909 and the work will have to be finished within eight months after the translation is preferred.
