The Opening Ceremony of the Hostel for Jain Students at Bhownagar.
"A highly interesting meeting of the citizens of Bhownagar was held in the Dadasaheb Vadi-Jain temple, presided over by His Highness Sir Bhavsingji, K. C. S. I., Maharajahı Saheb of Bhownagar at the request of the Jain Community.
The object of the meeting was to request His Highness to open a newly constructed Jain boarding-house, affording sufficient accommodation for 28 students studying in the local college and schools.
The proceedings began with a brief but eloquent speech, delivered by Principal Unwalla in which the speaker referred to the fact that the institution was the outcome of a few suggestions thrown out by him at a public function about a year ago.
He feelingly exhorted the citizens of Bhownagar to imitate the noble example of self-help as shown by the Jains in setting up t this institution and added that he could confidently state that in the course of his long experience of native states all over India Bhownagar yielded to none in its loyalty to the ruling chief.
