Prof. R.N.Mehta was the recipient of the NARMAD Gold Medal Award for his outstanding contributions in the academic field. He was the recipient of honour of the National scholar awarded by the U.G.C., Government of India, New Delhi for his outstanding contributions in the field of Archaeology.
He was the recipient of the SANSKAR award which was conferred on him
by the Government of Gujarat. TRAVEL :
Prof. Mehta travelled extensively at the invitation of educational institutions and Universities of various countries of the world. He delivered series of lectures at the Universities and Museums of America, Europe including Russia and also Thailand as a visiting scholar. SPECIAL SERVICE RENDERED :
Prof. Mehta served various Universities of India as the distinguished member of the board of studies namely the M.S. University of Baroda, the Gujarat University of Ahmedabad, Saurashtra University of Rajkot, the South Gujarat University of Surat, the S.P.University of Vidyanagar (Anand), the Poona University of Poona, the Nagpur University of Nagpur, the Kurukshetra University of Hariana, the Jodhpur University of Rajasthan and so on. He was associated with various research organizations of India as the distinguished member namely, the Archaeological Society of India, the Indian History and Culture Society, the Indian Society of Prehistory and Quatemary Studies, the All India Oriental Congress, the All India History Congress, the Place-Name Society of India, the Archival Society of India, the Gujarat Itihas Parishad, the Saurashtra Itihas Parishad etc.
He chaired a number of Academic conferences.
He chaired the prehistoric section of the Boreli conference of the Indian society for prehistoric and Quatemary studies.
