Thus the total number of combinations that can be made out of the fifteen elements of carelessness in the way described above is 4x4x5X1X1=80.
Prastara. Nemicandra says:
"The distribution is made thus: Write down severally the first element (of the first category) of carelessness and put over it, each of the elements of the succeeding classes. When the elements in the third category are exhausted, begin afresh with the second element of the second category; (and so on). When all the elements of these two categories have been thus distributed out, operations should be begun with (the second element of) the first category. (And so on)." 2

Parivartana. As already stated there can be several alternative processes. Nemicandra has, however, described only one in which the procedure followed is contrary to that just mentioned. He says:
"Write down the elements of the first category as many times as the number of elements in the second category; then put over each group severally each of the elements of the
