The Project demonstrates by example, and through its training workshops, principles of ecologically sustainable living. This is an ongoing process, with knowledge and skills continually evaluated and improved through self-assessment and interaction with similar organizations and individuals worldwide. The Wilderness Leadership School The Wilderness Leadership School is a tool for developing young people from diverse backgrounds through experience in wild country. The Gifts to the Earth Program World Wildlife Fund (WWF) began the Gifts to the Earth program on April 23, 1998 - 1,000 days before the year 2000. The aim was to mark a turning point in worldwide efforts to protect endangered species, safeguard the habitats they need to survive, and address global threats that put all living things in harm's way. WWF continues to call on governments, institutions, and individuals to make "Gifts to the Earth" - bold actions to preserve the web of life. WWF will continue to place ads in the New York Times and Washington Post at each 100 day mark before the Year 2000.

The Ladakh project was created to bring information to Ladakh, India about cultural and environmental development in other parts of world. The Farm Project offers opportunities for foreign volunteers to spend a month or more with a farming family in Ladakh. By helping with daily farming tasks, volunteers experience a different way of life - one more in tune with our natural surroundings, more decentralized in terms of economic organization. The project also helps to restore young Ladakh's respect for a centuries old, sustainable way of life when they see volunteers (mainly Westerners) do physical work side by side with Ladakhi families.
