Modern science could become an integral part of the rich culture of the West if it were looked upon with the same perspective as our ancient scientific ancestors. Instead of being in conflict with religion, science could be seen as a part of an enriched culture calling for full feminine equality to restore a common sense knowledge of the natural world. Adrian M. Hofstetter OP, Ph.D., is a Kentucky Dominican Sister and an environmental scientist. She is author of The Organism, Biogenesis, and Spontaneous Generation. In the New Catholic Encyclopedia and of numerous other articles in scientific and philosophical books and journals. Sr. Joan McGuire OP, also a Kentucky Dominican Sister, is the Director of the Office of Ecumenism of the Archdiocese of Chicago.

Pundit D.H. Maharaj This presentation will offer a brief historical survey of the religio cultural impositions of apartheid South Africa. The presenter will also explore the resultant consequences of Apartheid, which include the relegation of religions, other than Christianity, to secondary status, and loss of respect and esteem for one's religion, culture and self. Pundit Maharaj has been a practicing Hindu priest since 1965. His grandfather, who came from India, built the Juggamath Puri Temple Inow a National Monument) in Tongaat. He hoids a Law Degree and a post-graduate Diploma in Counseling from UDW. In 1998, he was appointed as the first Hindu Chaplain to serve the Hindu members of the South African Police Service (National Appointee).

Moral Practices are enacted to stir the conscience and maintain a structured society. There will also be some discussion of technology's role in defining moral guidelines. The primary theme of the lecture will be the acknowledgment and exploration of moral practice being difficult through Western cultural trends and practices. Dr. Cora Douglass Thompson is active in all levels of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church; Private Practice Mental Health Provider for 15 years workshop facilitator for various denominations and Adjunct Instructor at Park College and University of Missouri at Kansas City.
