Ms. Roberts is an independent researcher with a background in Islamic studies. She is currently involved in Muslim personal law and gender issues.
2:00 PM–2:45 PM IN ENGINEERING 3.15 Moral Education of Children: A Fundamental Approach to Solving the Multitude of Social Problems for the New Millennium Prof. Farzin Davachi All the great religions of the world have advocated the refinement of the human character. As the world is suffering from a moral and spiritual crisis, it requires a moral and spiritual solution. Moral education of children is the solution for such social ills as AIDS, alcohol and drug abuse, violence, crime, prejudice, racism, selfishness, disunity, injustice, etc. A universal moral education for the new millennium, acceptable to all cultures, traditions, religions, nations and people, is proposed in this presentation. Its goal is the acquisition of virtues on the one hand and learning to create a just and moral society on the other. Scientific experience has shown that the character of an individual is formed before puberty and that afterwards it is extremely difficult to change the character of an individual. Therefore, a moral education initiative, introduced into the school curriculums, should focus on children 5-14 years of age. Professor Davachi is a world expert on AIDS and an international advocate of moral education of children for prevention of AIDS and other social ills. He has met with numerous Heads of State and religious leaders and has advised governments around the world encouraging them to include moral education in their school curriculums. He is the author of over 50 scientific publications and recipient of the Gold Award from the American Academy of Pediatrics

Layton This exhibit, workshop, and lecture will inform participants in the Parliament about the landmine problems faced in over 65 countries today. Various groups from mine-infected countries will explain the situations in their own communities and seek partnerships to help alleviate the current suffering. Copenhaver, Jr. The Fellowship of Reconciliation (FOR) is the largest, oldest interfaith peace and justice organization in the United States and in the world. The International Fellowship of Reconciliation (IFOR), founded in 1914, has over a half million members in forty countries. The FOR "envisions a world of justice, peace, and freedom. It is a revolutionary vision of a beloved community where differences are respected, conflicts addressed nonviolently, oppressive structures dismantled, and where people live in harmony with the earth, nurtured by diverse spiritual traditions that foster compassion, solidarity, and reconciliation. This presentation and exhibit will feature some of the current initiatives of the FOR John Copenhaver, a University Professor and United Methodist Clergy. has served on the National Council of the Fellowship of Reconciliation USA for three years and Chairs its Interfaith Committee. He has been involved in interfaith dialogue and peacemaking for twenty years.
