Dear Jain Member,
November 20, 2002
Jai Jinendra!
The Federation of Jain Associations in North America (JAINA) with host Jain Center of Cincinnati & Dayton is pleased to provide details on the 12ch Biennial Jaina Convention to be held at the Greater Cincinnati Convention Center from July 3-6, 2003. The theme of the convention is Jainism: the Art of Living and celebrates the religious and cultural aspects of our everyday lives.

The preparation is underway at full speed with only months to go! Each committee is working to make this the best most memorable convention ever. The local Mahila Mandal is designing decorations to take advantage of the Cincinnati Convention Center. For the first time this year a quilt with panels from the various Jain Centers in North America will be on display.
During the day, there are a variety of speakers and seminars to expound on our knowledge of Jainism and how it applies to every aspect of our daily lives, from yoga & meditation sessions to cooking to hearing from Jain entrepreneurs and educators. To balance the day, the evenings will offer a showcase of culture for all ages from garba to a variety show to professional groups from India as well as for the first time, Night Rhythms.
The Youth committee has been extremely active. Another first for this convention is the service project. There will also be sessions by the youth for the youth and college related seminars to share our experiences with one another. The older youth will be able to share their experiences with the younger youth and show how the principles of Jainism can be practiced.
In keeping with tradition, the temple committee will dazzle the convention attendees with a beautiful rachna (model) of Shatrunjay Tirth.
The promise of mouthwatering meals will keep convention goers coming back for seconds as the food committee finalizes the preparations. To maintain the freshness and aroma, most of the food will be cooked on site daily by a team of cooks that will arrive in Cincinnati, specifically for this event. Each meal will have a choice of Indian or Western food including the availability of vegan food.
