Accomplishments of the
1993-1995
Executive Committee
With your assistance and encouragement, the Executive Committee accomplished many things during its tenure from 1993 - 1995:
• developed a cordial relationship with International Mahavir Jain Mission (Siddhachalam) and Jain Society of Metropolitan Chicago
published a special issue of Jain Digest dedicated to Acharya Sushil Kumar Ji
⚫ established the JAINA Charitable Trust which now has 25 trustees and has received over $125,000 in donations and pledges ⚫ began the Endowment Fund, "A Million by the Millennium" project for the Jain Digest. This Fund increased from $24,500 to $45,500 with 210 new Life Members
⚫ established a working Headquarters in Buffalo, NY and a Regional Office in Toronto, Canada
⚫increased the circulation of Jain Digest from 6,000 to 8,000 issues and began distributing it in Canada, by mail
• adopted a democratic publication policy, improved content, look and general quality of the Jain Digest
•published Jain picture and story books, a set of seven books will be available at the 1995 Convention
⚫ helped sponsor a very successful Youth Convention in Chicago in 1994
⚫ streamlined the tracking of membership dues with invoice procedures
⚫ provided humanitarian services all over the world
-built 55 houses in Latur, Maharashtra for earthquake victims
- raised and donated $33,000 for educating more than 1,000 orphans, victims of earthquake in Pune, Maharashtra.
- raised and donated funds to help the Rwanda refugees, the victims of the California Earthquake and the Mississippi River flood
- sent medical equipments and used clothing to India
- began the North America Jain Families Assistance
Program
- began the Assistance to Indian Charitable Institution Program (ATICIP)
improved communication among the Jain leaders of North America by publishing the monthly newsletter, Jain Focus
• adopted a Ten Year Plan for the growth of the Jain Community of North America

established a President's Advisory Council to benefit from the experience of past leaders
⚫ published the Financial Statements from 1989 to 1991 and plan to do the same for 1991 to 1993
activated following committees:
- Animal Compassion and Vegetarianism
- Environment and Ecology
- Code of Conduct
- Fund Raising (USA)
- Interfaith
-Long Range Planning
- Public Relations
- World Council of Jains (exploration)
signed a Letter of Understanding with the Jain Society of Metropolitan Chicago and established a National Convention Planning Board to ensure smooth convention preparations.
⚫signed an agreement with AT&T, Association Awards Program. Have received over $1,500 in revenues from AT&T in 9 months with 100 members signed up.
⚫ organized a Center Leadership Effectiveness Workshop in Toronto, Canada
⚫ began an Internship Program at JAINA Headquarters to help and observe JAINA operations and to train future leaders.
⚫ organized Town Hall type meetings in Cherry Hill and Los Angeles.
