Nancy Jain, Chair Over two-hundred million people around the world will celebrate Earth Day 1994. Earth Day commemorates individual environment awareness and action. Each one of us has the power to make a positive environmental change a reality. Every time a tree is planted or a stream is cleaned, whenever an individual makes the effort to change to a more cruelty-free life-style, cach time a child learns to care for the environment or a business implements a new way to conserve energy and resources: these are all occasions to celebrate.
The Environment & Ecology Committee invite all Jain Centers to show their commitment to the preservation of Nature by planting a tree in their community on International Earth Day, April 22nd. All those interested in organizing this event, please contact Nancy Jain (416) 447-1223, Sheila Kuriya (416) 323-0410 or Paren Makim at (416) 2826951.
Participating organizations are encouraged to take pictures of the 'TreePlanting ceremonies in their neighborhoods. We would like to compile these pictures in a publication to capture the 'International Jain spirit.
