This Hinduism cannot be strictly speaking termed as a religion as understood in common usage. It is more of culture and civilization like European, Arab, African or Chinese. It is more ancient than Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Babylon or even Mayan etc. but surprisingly still surviving and thriving when others have become merely a chapter in history.
Therefore, all the inhabitants living in Indian subcontinent, can legitimately claim to be Hindu or mere approximately Hindi, irrespective of their existing religious faith. More than 90% of Indian Christians are converts and so are Muslims. Their heritage is common with followers of other indigineous religions. Their ancestors, forefathers, for some good reason seem to have adopted the new religion. They can take pride in their ancient heritage as well belonging to world's latest and largest religions viz. Christianity and Islam Mohd Iqbal, Poet Laurate of Pakistan, author of Sare Jahām se Achha, Hindustan Hamārā (FIT VIET 37788T foretrai HRT) and justice M.C. Chhagla, one time Indian education minister and Sheikh Abdulla, Shere Kashmir have openly affirmed
C.F. Andrews, a close associate of Gandhiji in Indian freedom movement was a devout Christian and was Max Mullar, a German who translated Vedas from Sanskrita. Another name that comes to mind is Ralph Woodro Emesen Famous American poet and literate, showned keen interest in Hindu scriptures; especially Bhagavatgitā.
The influence of Hinduism as a culture and civilization can be seen all over the world as great acceptance of pluralism in the matter of faith or unity in diversity. Viz, toleration, peace and non violence. Some of the fundamentalists among so called Hindus and like wise their counterpart among Christians and Muslims for ignorance or self interests are creating wall between fellow countryman. Although, they are in miracle minicule, yet very vocal are playing in the hands of self centrered politicians. They have created a ghost of Hindutva. The vast majority is passive. Socially and economically all communities are closely integrated in their day to day life. Proper inter religion dialogue and education can help to Knit - India.
