consecration ceremonies, the 15% of the income is set apart for academic and literary purposes. It is possible that Digambara monks may encourage the community to utilize at least 10% of this type of amount. If we presume 100 such functions every year with the average income of five lacs each, it will bring about Rs. 50 lacs for this purpose.
This author has indicated this point in his article in Jaina Gazette, Oct. 2000. These two articles confirm the ideas presented therein. The article suggested a scheme also. But, Digambaras are after all Digambaras flying in upward direction or staying above the ground realities. Dr. Dundas states that Jainism is inward-looking and individualistic. Why it should care for what others say about it? However, an example of R. P. Jain of Delhi has come to me who encouraged an US scholar to study Digambara Jainism. He has worked on pūjas of Dhyanatrai (द्यानतराय) in Jaipur (Mahavir Jayanti Smarika, 2001). However, it should be taken as an exception. Should we hope that our saintly and social network will take up lead in this direction.

विश्व संस्कृत सम्मेलन में जैन विद्याएँ
जुलाई के पूर्वार्द्ध में फिनलैंड की राजधानी हेल्सिंकी में सम्पन्न 12 वें विश्व संस्कृत सम्मेलन के जैन विद्याखंड में जैन केन्द्र, रीवा के संयोजक डॉ. एन. एल. जैन ने 'अनेकान्तवाद और संघर्ष समाधान' तथा 'जैनों का वैज्ञानिक साहित्य' विषय पर दो शोध पत्र प्रस्तुत किये जो बहुचर्चित रहे। यहीं जैन विश्वभारती, लाड़नूँ के डॉ. भट्टाचार्य ने भी 'जैन धर्म में नारी' पर अपना शोधपत्र प्रस्तुत किया। इस खंड की तीन बैठकों में 8 देशों के विद्वानों ने 14 शोधपत्र प्रस्तुत किये जिनमें 'जैन रामायणों में जैन सिद्धान्त' (बेल्जियम) तथा 'मुनि आर्यिकाओं की आत्मकथाएँ विषय भी रोचक रहे। इस सत्र की संयोजक फ्रांस की डॉ. कैया थीं।
