1936 में जब Osiris नाम की एक नयी शोध पत्रिका History of Science पर प्रारंभ की गई तो उसका प्रथम खंड D.E. Smith को समर्पित था। (वास्तव में समर्पण समारोह स्मिथ के जन्म की 75वीं वर्षगांठ के अवसर पर 1935 में मनाया गया था।) इस पत्रिका में स्मिथ की रचनाओं की एक विशाल सूची (1892 से 1935 तक) उपलब्ध है जिसमें उनकी रचित व संपादित / अनुवादित पुस्तकों, लेखों, समीक्षाओं, आख्याओं आदि की संख्या 564 है। जीवन में इतना लेखन तथा संग्रहण कार्य एक समर्पित महान् व्यक्ति ही कर सकता है।
