________________ without rest or maternity leave or sick or priviledge leaves or without striking work, for the prosperity of our nation and the well being of our urban and rural population. Cows are exploited for continuous flow of milk by forced releated claving by artificial means or injecting oxytocin in their uddar or Phhoka which in a short time makes them totally barren and incapable to give milk. The bullocks are goaded with leather whip or with sharp edged iron rod till blood comes out of their neck wounded or legs broken by overloading them. When found useless milk or unfit for draught purpose these poor animals are thrown on roads to die of starvation or sold to butchers. It is here that Gośālās perform their duty. They rescue such animals, treat them medically and try to restore them to normal health to breath their last in shelter and peace. This is our human touch to them. Gośātā movement has currently rescued thousands of cows, calfs and bullocks, mostly from illegal slaughteress and saved our national wealth. Even such animals fed on grass & gaibage give upto 3650 kg. of dung in a year which can produce 80-100 tons of compost fertiliser through Nadep process and give following ingredients that will save crores of rupees of national exchange spent on import of dung, compost and fertilisers and also rejuvenite our earth : Cost based on subsiding rate of chemical Fertilizers Nitrogen 800 Kgs. Rs. 4,026.00 Phosphorus 560 Kgs. Rs. 3,500.00 Potassium 1040 Kgs. Rs. 2,800.00 Micro Nutrition 67000 Kgs. Rs. 7,760.00 Total Rs. 17,885.00 A master plan should be chalked out to transform the draft and bio-gas energy and organic manure for constructive use to develop renewable sources of our energy to preserve and protect our environment and save us from foreign dependence for chemical fertilisers, insecticides and petro products. It is, therefore, our duty to preserve and protect our cows, bullocks and other animals. This calls for the creation of a National Project to establish a chain of Gosātas & Pinjārāpoles or Gosadans to preserve these valuable lives by creating 'Natinal Fund for Care of Animals', desirable by government allocations in the form of a cess of atleast five paise or more per kg. of milk produced and sold by wholesale producers and milk societies and similarly on sale of Agricultural products at Agricultural marketing yards to provide shelter, care and food, till natural death in lieu of pension, gratuaty, bonus or provident fund benefits to the voiceless workers whose contribution to national health and wealth is enormously anvaluable. Wide executive power should be given to the National Executive Committee nominated for this project preferably through Animal Welfare Board of India and active, constructive and devoted leaders 58 Arhat Vacana, Oct. 99
