Bahubali - The Son of Rishabhadeva - By Dr. Renuka Porwal, Mob.: 098218 77327
Bahubali and Bharat were the sons of Tirthankar Rishabhdeva. Bahubali was tall, well built with very strong arms, hence was called Bahubali.
Bahubali rejected Bharat's sovereignty resulting in a wrestling duel between the brothers. Angered at the use of the Chakraratna, Bahubali raised his hand to smash him & instead pulled out his hair, renouncing the world.
Bahubali meditated for many years but couldn't attain Kevalinan. His sisters requested, "You need to come down from the elephant as you will not get the ultimate knowledge with pride in your soul." As soon as he stepped forward to go to bow down to Bharat, he received Kevaljnan.
In the memory of king Bahubali, a colossal 57 ft image was established by Gommat. Vir Martand Chamundrai, 1000 years ago at Sravan-bel-gola in Karnataka.
