________________ JULY 2013 PRABUDDHA JIVAN Thus Spake Gratitude, Compassion & Awareness: The first thing one went through if one had to be initiated into being a disciple to George Gurdjeiff is for 24 hours watch and report the people who come and go from the window. It seemed like a fairly easy task but even for a moment if your eyelids became heavy and you felt sleepy, you were shown the stick by the master. So what does this mean? One is that the first thing the Guru seeks and wants to develop in you is 'Satat jagruti'- total alertness and awareness. and second and the most incredible is his compassion. While he wants that from you, he also stays awake for you to slap u if you even for a moment loose that alertness. YES, a Master is always awake but here he is putting his energies in you and that is his compassion. These are the two elements of experience I was gifted in my 20 days journey to Singapore and Australia, a few days Gurudev/ Bapa/ Saheb/ Rakesh Jhaveri was a part of and the rest of the days with fellow followers in differant stages of their own journey but with one common factor of Him as their guiding light. I am still a novice, still in a dream world of desires, expectations and a state where I still think of me and mine before I think of HIM and His. So what did it teach me? People keep asking me How was it with Bapa? and the first thing i do realise is yes, truly Bapa was with me / us 24/7 in this trip not because he was physically present but all our actions, the food we ate, the sights we saw, the rollercoasters we took, the skies we dived were because he, his eye, his presence was all encompassing. 62 people from our group skydived and that is no easy feat. To face one's fear head on; as a fellow traveller Snehal Prabhu said- If you are so afraid to sit in a roller coaster where you know for sure it is just a thrilling ride, and there is an end, how will you be able to let go of your body during the time of death when you wont be given any time pr pre warning.' A journey filled with learnings at every given step. Anand prabhu, yet another soul who has been chiselled with Bapa distributed the few neccessaties he was carrying 31 to anyone who had a little space and kept his 30 kgs luggage check in slot empty for 'sanstha nu saaman'. as seva was far more natural and effortless to him then shopping that extra kg which would take away from giving that to the spiritual books and cds that needed to be sent. Knowing the whole day would probably go in reaching a place and the lunch would be served only after four, still a few people would not touch their breakfast because they had not completed their 'kram'. And all the children- from five to 25.. Ah their 'nirdosh sukh, nirdosh anand' - their play, their ability to naturally stay within their boundaries and yet soar high; Perth was when we were just 40 of us and we got more intimate time with Bapa. The anticipation, the longing and the preparation that at eleven a clock Bapa was going to see us, at two we were going to the lakes with HIm and then the final flight where I was blessed to get a seat where i was under his vibrations, just a seat away. The thing I learnt the most besides Jagruti and compassion was Gratitude. After being with him, around him, to come back to one's own lower dimension is not easy;feel aimless and insipid. Then the thought comes how must he feel to be and deal with all of us, who are still trotting, struggling, some in baby steps, some leaping but still in the journey, mortals with warped beliefs, short tempers, massive egoes, insatiable greed, How does he deal so compassionately with all of us. And it is only because of his endless gratitude to his Guru who showed him the way. Gratitude is such a glowing fat happy emotion. I just want to cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to me, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to my advancement, to include all things in my gratitude. "Let gratitude be the pillow upon which you kneel to say your nightly prayer. And let faith be the bridge you build to overcome evil and welcome good." - Maya Angelou RESHMA JAIN The Narrators Mobile: 9820427444
