Panegyric (Praśasti) literature : 49 8. Vastupāla -Tejapāla Prasasti by Jaisiṁhasūri, pupil of Vīrasūri, the author of Hammiramadamardana, dramatizing Vastupāla strategy in repulsing a Muslim attack on Gujarat. This prasasti, in 77 verses, contained genealogy, of the Caulukya and Vaghela dynasty, of the donor Vastupāla and a list of his virtuous deeds. Once Tejapala, while on way to pilgrimage to the Muni Suvrat temple, Bhțgukaccha, was requested by the composer, the head of the Caitya to provide 25 small shrines (devakulikās) in the temple Śakunavihāra, built by minister Ambada, with golden flag - staffs. Tejapāla agreed to it with the consent of Vastupāla and erected the staffs. The remaining verses of poem bestow conventional blessings, on the temple and the two ministers. Pub. Darbhāvati Prasasti, it is virtually lost but its content is available in Vastupālacarita (III, 363-369) after return to Darbhāvatī from his successful operation over Ghughula of Godhra, Tejapāla built the fort of Darbhāvats and constructed some temples in that city. According to Vastupālacarita, Tejapāla had installed two slabs of a praśasti or an inscription in the walls of a Jaina temple, built by him there. 10. Vastupāla - Praśasti (Sanskrit) in 4 verses in praise of Vastupāla by Yaśovīra, a friend of the former. Yaśovīra was the minister of Udayasimha of Cauhana dynasty, a king of Jābālipur (modern Jalore). As mentioned in Hammīramadamardana, Vastupāla honoured him as his elder brother. His father's name was also Udayasimha. 12.
