Three Karanas and Three Yogas in the field of Violence. Karnas -
Yogas -
1) Doing violence on your own, himself i.e. to kill some being through own activity (Karanãā)
Yogas -
2) Getting violence done by others i.e. to order some body to injure some being. (Karavānā)
3) Neither doing violence on your own nor endorsing some person to do violence but simply to support the activity of violence by witnessing that. (Anumodana karaṇā)
To make up your mind to kill or to injure some being. To utter harsh words in order to humiliate somebody. 3) To attack somebody in order to kill him or to injure him. In other words, these are injury in mind (Manasā) injury in words (Vācā) and injury in action (Karmanā).
Three Karanas and Three Yogas in the field of Non-Violence.
Karanas 1) Doing non-violence yourself i.e. to save somebody from being injured (Karana)

2) Ordering some person to save somebody (Karavānā)
3) Neither saving nor ordering somebody to save some being but only supporting the activity of saving by witnessing that (Anumodana Karanā)

To make up your own mind not to injure anybody.

Not to utter any harsh words to humiliate some body. 3) To save somebody if he is in a position to be injured.
These are non-injury in mind (Manasā), non-injury in words (Vācā) and, non-injury in action (Karmanā)
In the Acārāngasūtra non-violence and religion have been declared as one and the same.
"All animates (Prānī), all elements (bhūta), all beings (jiva) and all existants (sattā) should neither be killed, nor be ordered to be killed, nor be oppressed, nor be tortured, nor be disturbed with a view to killing. This religion (dharma) in the form of non-violence is pure' 12
