will also achieve salvation during the same time. 38. Jaina Texts mention that Srikrsna remained in the world for one
thousand years while Vedic Texts are of view that he was alive
for 120 years 39. Jaina Texts say that Balarāma had been roaming with holding
the corps of Śřikrsna for six months. Siddhārtha Deva tried to pacify his attachment and finally Balarāma kept him into fire. Then he kept himself busied in performing the Jaina penance
and took the birth in Brahmaloka. 40. According to Jaina tradition Śrikrsna is not an incorn ation of
Lord Visņu. He was a human being like us except that he had
some peculiar qualities which are not found in general. 41. As regards the Hindi Jaina literature, that too follows the earlier
Jaina tradition. In Vedic tradition, Lord Krişna is described as Gopijana-- Vallabha, Rasika and an incornated personality while Jaina tradition is of view that he was of course, a Great man but not an incornation of God. We do not fine any
description of sperts (Lilás) in Jaina tradition. 42. . Vyāsa is the legitimate son of King Parāśara and Gunavati,
unlike Mahābhārata, who had three sons, Dhịtarāşțra, Pāndu, and Vidura. Pāndu, penitent over his killing of a deer, renounces the world and became a Jaina monk. Dhịtarāştra too after hearing a prophecy about the destruction of his entire family,
renounces the world and becomes a Jaina monk. 62 43. Unlike Mahābhārata, Jaina writers reduce Kļşņa to human
stature by showing his nature to be scheming and selfish. It is said that at the time of Nemi's marriage, Krsna had gathered animals to be slaughtered for the marriage feast in order to eliminate Nemi as a rival to the kingdom by provoking him to
renunciation.63 44. Unlike Mahābhārata, Sāntanu himself is said to have fathered
Matsyagandhā.64 45. Bhîşma not only took a vow to renounce all rights to his
kingdom, but also cut of his own genitals and thus earned his
