capability of resolution and enjoyment.
Out of these eight karmas - Jñānāvaraṇīya, Darśanavaraṇīya, Mohaniya and Antaraya karma are the ghati karmas, because they obscure the inherent nature and capability of the soul.24 Vedaniya, Ayu, Nāma and Gotra karmas are aghāti karmas25 because they neither affect the original capacity of the soul nor do they obscure the capacity. As soon as the four ghāti karmas are destroyed one can attain the stage of Arihant Divinity 26 Siddhahood is attained only after destructing both the Ghati and Aghāti karmas, where upon all the karmas are annihilated.27 Ghäti karmas are of two kinds 28 viz, Sarvaghāti karma (completely obscuring karma) and Desaghți karma (partially obscuring karma).
The aforesaid mūlprakrtis can be further divided into 158 Uttaraprakṛtis in Sattā (Existance).29
Jñānāvārṇiya- Karma - Divided into 5 types:30
Mati - jñānāvarna Karma which causes the obscuration of knowledge transmitted through the senses

Sruta- jñānāvarna krma which produces the obscuration of knowledge acquired by scripture, etc.
Avadhi- jñānāvaraṇa karma which hinders transcendental knowledge of material things
Manaḥparyaya- jñānāvaraṇa karma which transcendental knowledge of the thoughts of others
Kevala- jñānavaraṇa karma which obscures the omniscience inherent in the jiva by natural disposition

Darśanavaraṇīya Karma: It is divided into nine types31 corresponding to the four types of perception and five kinds of sleep, viz.
Cakṣudarśanavaraṇīya which covers the eye perception.
