________________ श्रमण / जुलाई-सितम्बर/ १९९७ : १४० written by the author, but the peculiarity about the Chāyā is that nearly all the verbal forms in the present tense in the text have been transformed into the past perfect tense like अधिरूरोह for अधिरोहई, अपवेत forवेवइ etc. the mesculine form like the निर्मक्षिकः and विवाहतन्त्र: ( IV/44, 45 ) are grammatically wrong. They should have been in neuter gender only. Such mistakes only compel us to conclude that the chāyākāra is not the poet himself because Ramapanivada the poet was also a grammarian being the commentator of. The book also contains the English translation which is literal and complete keeping in view the English idiom and all the spirit of that language. It is a fine piece of poetic art. The Sanskrit Chaya and the English translation have been definitely enhanced it readability and utility. The learned editor has helped the readers by giving some mythological Notes, the verse index and a short list of words with Sanskrit Chāyā though at one place (Page 141) the Chaya fafafa for fegs appears to be wrong because it should have been fad. The book is wroth possessing or enjoying. The readers will teel more than repaid. S. C. Pande Jain Education International For Private & Personal Use Only www.jainelibrary.org
