In this passage the only Sutra quoted by RBh. is 'vva ivarthe; It seems, this Sūtra is not complete when compared with the others, Hc. has 'miva piva viva vva va via ivārthe vā' (2,182) and Vr. has mmiva-miva via ivārthe' (9,16 of Cowell's edition). This is a general Sūtra of Prakrit and it will be the same in almost all the dialects of Prakrit. As it is not a peculier feature of Magadhi. I am not discussing the validity of this Sūtra is not fully quoted as said earlier.

prastute sămânyam uktam iti aprastuta prasa msa. anukampā kṛpā tayä mṛdureva śrotriyo dāruņam paśumāraṇam karma vivarjayati yatha tatha mama sahajam vivarjaniyam na bhavatīti vaidharma dṛṣṭāntaḥ va ivar-the. tadopamā. yatha śrotriya śchandaso vaidikaṁ dāruņaṁ paśumāraṇa karmāpi yajñādau vivarjayati. ekaśśim diase khandaśo loha macche mae kappide jāva. taśśa udalabbhantale edam ladana bhaśulaṁ añguliaaṁ dekkhia paccha ahake se vikka-aa daṁśaante gahide bhāva miśśehim maleha va muñceha vä. aaṁ se aama vuttante.
maya kappide kalpitaḥ khaṇḍitaḥ. 'kalpanaṁ kartanaṁ klrptau' iti viścah.........ayamasyanguliy-asyagamaḥ prāpti-stad-vṛttantaḥ. vikrayayeti 'caturthyāḥ ṣasthi' iti şaşṭhaya niyamena präptau 'tādarthye' iti vikalpena catur theka vacanam.
COMMENTS:
'catur-thyaḥ saṣthi' (Hc. 3, 131) is a general Sūtra for Prakrit, irrespective of any dialects. This Sutra, it seems, is quoted from Hc., it has nothing to do with Magadhi as a special character. The Sutra 'tädarthye', indicates the case-ending, it should have in Prakrit, that is, it should be a dative case. But as dative is not allowed in Prakrit it is being replaced by genitive, in the sense of 'tädarthya' genitive case is to be used. That is the purport of this Sūtra. Hc. has a Sūtra which gives the alternative form in 'tädarthye', instead of şaştih, it can have caturthi as well, which is, in a sense, rare in Prakrit.
