आजकाल ऐसा कौन व्यक्ति है जो गर्दभीविद्या में विश्वास करेगा और मान लेगा कि किसी विशेष ध्वनिमात्र से समस्त सेनाका संहार किया जा सकता है ? परंतु धन्य है वैज्ञानिकोंको जिन्होंने इस दिशा में भी प्रयोग किया है। अम्बाला ( पंजाब ) से प्रकाशित होनेवाले ७. ३. ५२ के दैनिक पत्र ट्रिब्यून (Tribune ) में लंदनका एक समाचार छपा था जिसका शीर्षक था New weapon that may annihilate armies अर्थात् सेना संहारका नवीन शत्र | उस लेखका उपयोगी अंश नीचे दिया जाता है ।

Can armies be destryoed by sound? This is the question that military scientists are asking themselves to-day.
There is little doubt that sound waves of high pitch, beyond the gamut of human ear, could prove fatal. But can a machine be perfected which would destrory whole armies by sound waves? The lethal properties of high-frequency sound waves were considered during the last war, and according to an american journal, an Englishman actually designed and ultrasonic machine, capable of destroying whole armies

American scientist have already found that sound waves of even moderate intensity could prove fatal in the case of mice and caterpillars. Laboratory tests in an american college recently sho wed that ultrasonic rays could tear animal tissue to pieces and raise body temperature to as high as 140 degrees........
It has been found that the energy of high-frequency beam, when it strikes the fur of the animals, turns into heat so intense that their body proteins coagulate. An American has discovered that diamonds could be shattered by vibrations 1,000,000 times a second. There is little doubt that sound waves of very highfrequency can prove dangerous to human beings...........
