2000 Year old Civilisation unearthed M.'P.
Indian art treasures which lay buried & out of sight for a number of centuries as a result of upheaval nature have been brought to light at the village of Ghasoi in Suvasra in Madhya Pradesh, seven miles off the Suvasra art centre, by Director of Centre, Mr. Nagesh Yawalkar.
Mr. Yawalkar, well known artist & sculptor, recently visited the village where, he said, thousands of art pieces had been found in a dry lake with a circumference of about four miles.
Some of these pieces are pillars on which are done beautiful engravings of human figures, while others are gold coins with figures of heads of donkeys.
Mr. Yawalkar said a number of beautiful imges & carvings had been found half-burried near the lake. Many more could be brought to light if a team of experienced archaeologists went to work in that village. Some of these images were 2000 years old, & gave a fairly satisfactory picture of the civilisation of that period, he added.
Remnants of a ruined Jain temple & of Samadhi may still be seen the, e as evidence of culture & great artistic excellence of people of those days.
He stated that he would report his discovery to the Archae. logical Department in a few days.
