that such ideas should arise in the mind of Marichi, moving about at his own independent will, at the time of distress. Besides, an idea aroge in his mind, "The observances of these Sādhus differ from those of mine, I do not act in accordance with spotless religious duties. How can they attend upon a person of my character. If I am free from my disease, I will have a pupil who can serve me'. By force of fate he was completely cured.
One day, Kapila, son of a noble king, came to him. He was desirous of knowing religious duties. He thereupon requested Marichi to explain him the nature of true religion. Marichi preached him the Dharma, promulgated by the Trithankaras, Kapila asked him, "Why do you not act according to the tenets of that religion ? Marichi said, 'I am unable to observe its strict religious rites.' Kapila asked, 'Is there no Dharma, in your doctrine ?' Knowing him to be a deserving pupil, Marichi declared:There is Dharma-true knowledge in their religion, and there is Dharmain my doctrine also.' Kapila became Marichi's pupil. By the propagation of this wrong belief, Marichi earned for himself, wandering for Kotäkoti Sāgaropama years in this Sansära.
Dying without food and without expiation for his sinful action, Marichi was born as a god in Brahma-devaloka ( @qals) with an age-limit of ten Sägaropams and Kapila after having pupils like Asari, was born as a god in Brahma--loka.
Knowing his previous life through the medium of birth-born Visual knowledge (24914 19h'işlla ) Kapila out of infatuation, came to this world and explained to Asuri and others, his Sankhya. (iv) system of philosophy. Sankhya system of philosophy thus originated with Kapila.
The soul of Nayasāra born as Marichi in the third previous life, finishes, thus his third previous life. During this life he earned for himself the evil Karma of being born in low families121317 ) and the Karma of wandering in this Sansära for one Kotakoti Sāgaropama years,

The soul rises higher aud higher in spirituality, by the practice of pure conduct associated with spotless natural transformation. Marichi possessed such means during his life but he got tired of availing himself of these rare opportunities. At the ripe time of strictly observing religious rites, he became negligent on account of heat and thirst; a desire for his own personal happiness became prominent in his mind, and he thought himself unable to observe the religious rites prescribed by the Tirthankaras.
