"Tath-oktam :
'Anagāro munir-mauni sādhuh pravajito vrati | śramanaḥ kṣapanaś-c-aiva yatiś-c alikārtha-vācakāḥ ||'"
(śānti sūri, p.18). Now, to some Āryā quotations : "Tathā ca Vācakah :
'Dhurtă-naikrtikāh stabdāh lubdāh kārpātikāh śathāh vividhāṁ te prapadyante tiryag-yonim duruttarām 11"
(śānti sūri, p.281). And "Tad-uktam: 'Apāta-mātra madhurā vipāka-katavo vis-opamā visayah Aviveki-jan-caritā viveki-jana-varjitāḥ pāpāḥ 11
(śānti sūri, p.190). Also "Tathā ca Vācaka : 'Sancita-tapodhanānām nityam vrata-niyama-samyama-ratānām || utsava-bhūta-anye maranam-anaparādha vrttīnām 11"
(śānti sūri, pp.241-242). And "Tathä с-aitad-anuvādi Vācakah : "Na trstir-iha satāj-jantor-na-sahasr-ānna koțitaḥ || na rājyān-n-aiva divatvān-n-endrat-vād-api vidyate |".
(Sänti sūri, p.318). And lastly a quotation from the Uttarādhyayana cūrņi (c. late 7 cent. A.D.): "Na vrttim cintayet prājño dharmam-eva-ānucintayet || janma-prabhrti-bhūtānāṁ vịttir-āyuś-ca kalpitam ||" (śrīmanti Uttarādhyayananāni, Śri Rsabhadevaji Keśarīmaljī svetāmbara Saṁsthā, Indore 1933, p.150.) All these verses possess the glitter of the style of Umāsvāti. I forgo citing these in the present discussion. Since I have plans to discuss these sangrahaņī insertions in the Bhāşya in a separate paper, I shall not enlarge upon this point here. In the Bhāsya of the last two chapters (9 and 10) of the Tattvārthādhigama, they occur far more abundantly. His Tattvārthādhigama-sūtra is the most often used source, and its very first sūtra, namely "Samyag-darśana-jñana-caritrāņī mokşa-mārgah" (1.1) is the
