8. Manu also corroborates this view of Patanjali. "But in consequence of the ommission of the sacred rites, and of their not consulting Brahmanas, the following tribes of ksatriyas have gradually sunk in this world to the condition of sūdras : the Paundrakas, the Codas, the Dravidas, the Kambojas, the Yavanas, the Sakas, the Päradas, the Pahlavas, the Cīnas, the Kiratas and the Dardaras", tr. Patanjali values the way of life followed by the orthodox people in the Äryävarta as par excellence; cf. Evam tarhi nivasata ācārataś ca. Sa cācāra Aryavarta eva. etasminn Aryanivåse ye brähmanah kumbhidhanya alolupă agrlıyamāṇakäraṇāḥ kimcid antarena kasydsid vidyāyāḥ päragas tatrabhavantaḥ Sistah. Mahabhagya, 6.3.109.
