દેશકાળના સંદર્ભ માં હંમેશાં પ્રસ્તુત હેાય છે. તેની મહાનતા એ છે કે પ્રત્યેક સંદર્ભોમાં, પ્રત્યેક પરિસ્થિતિમાં, પ્રત્યેક વ્યક્તિને લાયક પ્રેરણા અને આધ તેની પાસે હોય છે. પીટરપ્રુકે કરેલી મહાભારતની રજૂઆત (વિશ્વસંદર્ભોમાં માનવ સંધાની ઉત્તમ સમીક્ષારૂપે) આનું ઉત્તમ અદ્યતન, અર્વાચીન દૃષ્ટાંત ગણી શકાય. પોતાના વિચારનું સમન કરતાં રાધાકૃષ્ણન લખે છે : “Classics are contemporaries of all ages. They have something to tell us in every context and in every situation in which we find ourselves. When we are in distress, in troubles, we turn to them and they give us spiritual comfort. They give us not merely enlightment but they give solace of mind also. The Ramayana, the Mahabharata, Kalidas's works..all these give us examples as to how man should behave in difficult situations of life. The classics all over the world, have the same power to stimulate our minds, to sooth our hearts, to enrich our whole nature, to make us a being with a new perception altogether. They help us to develop an allembracing human personality.’૩
સમસ્યા : ૨ વામણાં માહિતીકેન્દ્રો બની ચૂકેલાં આપણાં વિશ્વવિદ્યાલયા : નિરૂપણું : વધુ પડતા માહિતીલક્ષી અને પરીક્ષાલક્ષી અભિગમે આપણાં વિશ્વવિદ્યાલયાને વામણાં માહિતી કેન્દ્રો અને પરીક્ષા કેન્દ્રો જ બનાવી દીધાં છે.
પ્રતિભાવ : આ સંદર્ભ માં રાધાકૃષ્ણન એ સ્પષ્ટ કરે છે કે : “Jnana is not mere information, not mere scholarship, it is not mere criticism, it is education in depth.''૪
વાસ્તવમાં વિદ્યાર્થી આના ધડતરમાં વિશ્વવિદ્યાલયાના ફાળા બહુ મોટા હાવા જોઈએ. વિશ્વવિદ્યાલયના કાર્યની સ્પષ્ટતા કરતાં રાધાકૃષ્ણન કહે છે : જે વિશ્વદષ્ટિ આપાદિત કરે, તે વિશ્વવિદ્યાલય કહેવાય.” “A University is one which gives a universal outlook.""
પ્રશ્ન એ છે કે રાજકારણીએ નાદારીસંચારથી સંચાલિત થઈ રહેલાં આપણાં વિશ્વવિદ્યાલયે વાસ્તવમાં શું વિશ્વદૃષ્ટિ પ્રદાન કરે છે ખરાં? વિશ્વદૃષ્ટિ તા દૂર રહી પણ રાષ્ટ્રીય દૃષ્ટિ સાંપડવી પણ મુશ્કેલ થઈ ગઈ છે. અહીં એ સ્પષ્ટતા કરવી જરૂરી છે, કે રાધાકૃષ્ણન્ માહિતીનુ મૂલ્ય નકારતા નથી એટલું જ નહી', બલ્કે બદલાતા જતા સમાજના સંદર્ભમાં માહિતીલક્ષી અને વ્યવસાયલક્ષી શિક્ષણની તાતી જરૂરિયાત પણ તેએ દર્શાવે છે. આમ છતાં અહી' જ અટકી જવાની વૃત્તિ સામે તેએ લાલબત્તી ધરતાં કહે છે : “Education is not the acquisition of information, important though it is, or acquisition of technical skills though
