To-day, music is classified in three classes. viz. classical, light classical and light Again it is divided into vocal and instrumental types. Bharatamuni has mentioned these two varletios 10 bis Natyafastra 17 Both these varieties can be used in pare as also in applied form. Instruments are fourtold as stated by Bharata, namely
