CONTRIBUTION OF DR. MADHUSUDAN DHAKY IN THE FIELD OF ARCHITECTURE

A renowned personality, devoted towards knowledge of temple architecture, raises only one name and that is Padmabhushana Dr. Madhusudan Dhaky. Since years he wrote books with deep meaning on temple architecture as well as its art and objects within. Whether it's Sirohi city's treasured shrines or Kumbhariya or Ayada or Sadadis' temple, he observed them and covered all aspects. The diversity of his acute knowledge appeared in his writings and lectures. Every research work of his, was characterised by extensive observation and excellent precision with series of references. His high valued factual vidya and erudition echoed in his writings whether it may be on Vedic, Buddhist or Jaina's literature or deciphering the epigraphs or observing the iconography or temple architecture. His research compositions are of outstanding merit, creating tremendous zeal among readers and research scholars. His rhetorical workmanship too is very methodical as well as covering all aspects.
He propagated his wide knowledge of scriptures and history throughout the world to elucidate art icons and also to solve the controversy between different faiths. As a writer hiscontribution towards temple architecture with reference to Agamic literature crosses all boundaries.
Dr. Dhaky - the Visvakarma of Indian shrines as he is often referred, took much effort in blooming the institute ‘American Institute of Indian Studies (AIS)' the real research centre to learn any sort of art and aesthetics of India.
