Yet there is another interesting feature of this comet. Our earth crosses the orbital plane of the Halley's comet twice in a year. This happens first in the month of May and second in the last week of October. During these crossings the earth experiences meteoritical showers. This is believed to be due to left out matter in the orbit by the comet during its previous visits. This matter is attracted or pulled by the earth's gravitation in the form of meteors. The May crossing takes place during day time as such the meteoritical shower is not visible by naked eyes, while the October crossing occures during night time and the shower is quite visible to the naked eyes. This strange phenomenon which is scientifically called Orioniod originate from a particular place in the sky which is called Orion nakṣatra in the constellation of Gemini (Mithun Rasi).
