यौवन नगनदीस्योपमं शारदाम्बुदविलासजीवितम् । स्वमलब्धवनविभ्रमे धनं स्थावरं किमपि नास्ति तत्वतः ॥ विग्रद्दा गदभुजङ्गमालयाः संगमा विगम दोषदूषिताः । संपcise favar कटाक्षता नास्ति किंचिदनुपद्रवं स्फुटम् ॥ प्रीतिकीर्तिमतिकान्तिभूतयः पाकशासनशरासनास्थिराः । माः सन्ति मिग्रापितपुत्रबान्धवाः ॥ मोक्षमेकमपहाय कृत्रिमं नास्ति वस्तु किमपीह शाश्वतम् । किंचनापि सहगामि नात्मनो ज्ञानदर्शनमपास्य पावनम् ॥ सन्ति से त्रिभुवने न देहिनो ये न यान्ति समवर्तिमन्दिरम् । शक्रचापचिता हि कुत्र ते ये भजन्ति न विनाशमम्बुदाः ॥ tereरमपास्य अर्जरं यत्र तीर्थपतयोऽतिपूजिताः । यान्ति पूर्णसमये शिवास्पदं सत्र के जगति नात्र गचराः ॥
Viranandi, in his Ácārasāra (c. A. p. 1153) expounds the twelve Anuprekṣās under samsthāna-vicaya of Dharmya-dhyana in 12 Sanskrit verses in the Sardla-vikrīdita metre ( X 32 - 44 ) Tho contents are presented with a dignity, and some of the well-known similes are incorporated here and there. The verse on anitya-a. may be quoted here as a specimen (X, 33):
उत्पत्तिः प्ररूयश्च पर्ययवशाद् दुव्यात्मना नित्यता वस्तूनां निश्वये प्रतिक्षणमिहाज्ञानाअनो मन्यते । नित्यस्वं जयदीपकलिकास्थैर्य यथार्थादिके नष्टे नष्टयुतिः करोति बत शोकार्ती वृथात्मीयके ॥
The Pravacanasaroddhāra of Nemicandra is an encyclopaedic work, primarily a source book, in 1599 Prakrit gāthas, dealing with all the aspects of Jainism. It has an exhaustive commentary in Sanskrit, which makes the basic text not only highly intelligible but also extremely valuable for the study of Jainism, written by Siddhasens who completed it in A. D. 1191. The Anupreksas, or the twelve topics to be reflected upon (bhavaniyaḥ, therefore called Bhāvanās) are enumerated in gāthās 572-73; and it is Siddhasena who offers an exposition of them in Sanskrit verses, of short and long metres and numbering about 133, more than one-third (59) of which are given to Lokabhavana. Siddhasena's style is smooth and simple with occasional Prakritisms. Now and then he has some striking ideas besides those which he draws from the common pool of inheritance. Siddhasena and Brahmadeva show the same tendency in giving the details about Loka. By way of specimen Siddhasena's verses on aniyaa. are quoted below:
प्रमन्ते वज्रसारकालेऽप्यनित्यत्वरक्षसा । किं पुनः कदलीगर्भनिःसारानिह देहिनः ॥
दुग्धमिव स्वादयति जनो विडा द्वष मुदितः । नोपाटितलकुटमिवोत्पश्यति यममहह किं कुर्मः ॥
