उत्तर : चन्द्र-सूर्य के गमन करने की क्षेत्रगली को चारक्षेत्र कहते हैं। दो चन्द्र और दो सूर्यों के प्रति एक-एक चारक्षेत्र होता है। जम्बूद्वीप के दो सूर्यो का एक चारक्षेत्र है । लवणसमुद्र के चार सूर्यो के दो चारक्षेत्र, धातकीखण्ड द्वीप के १२ सूर्यो के ६ चारक्षेत्र, कालोदक समुद्र के ४२ सूर्यो के २१ चारक्षेत्र और पुष्करार्ध द्वीप के ७२ सूर्यो के ३६ चारक्षेत्र हैं ।
जम्बूद्वीप सम्बंधी चन्द्र और सूर्य जम्बूद्वीप में तो १८० योजन क्षेत्र में ही विचरते हैं। शेष ३३० योजन लवण समुद्र में विचरते हैं अर्थात् दो-दो चन्द्र और सूर्य ५१०६६ योजन प्रमाणक्षेत्र में विचरते हैं। शेष पुष्करार्ध पर्यन्त के चन्द्र-सूर्य अपने-अपने क्षेत्र में विचरते हैं।
