कारण जीव स्वयं है और पुद्गल के कर्मरूप परिणमन का उपादान कारण पुद्गल द्रव्य स्वयं है। जीव के रागादिक मावों का निमित्त कारण चारित्रमोह कर्म की उदयावस्था है और कर्म का निमित्त कारण जीव का रागादिक भाव है। जीव और कर्म में परस्पर निमित्त नैमित्तिक भाव होने पर भी एक द्रव्य दूसरे द्रव्य रूप परिणमन नहीं करता अर्थात् जीव सदा जीच रहता है और पुद्गल सदा पुद्गल रहता है, परन्तु इन दोनों का संश्लेषात्मक संयोग महन्थ होने के कारण संसारी दशा में ये अलग-अलग नहीं होते हैं। प्रश्न : जीव और कर्म का सम्बन्ध अनादि से होने पर
