२१८. प्रश्न: द्रव्य परिवर्तन के कितने भेद हैं और उनका स्वरूप क्या है ?
उत्तर : द्रव्य परिवर्तन के दो भेद हैं- (१) नोकर्मद्रव्य परिवर्तन और (२) कर्मद्रव्य परिवर्तन ।
नोकर्मद्रव्य परिवर्तन : किसी जीव ने स्निग्ध, रूक्ष, वर्ण, गन्धादि के तीव्र - मन्द - मध्यम भावों में से यथासम्भव भावों से युक्त औदारिकादि तीन शरीरों में से किसी शरीर सम्बन्धी तथा छह पर्याप्ति रूप परिणमन के योग्य पुद्गलों को एक समय में ग्रहण किया। पीछे द्वितीयादि समय में उस द्रव्य की निर्जरा कर दी। पीछे अनन्त बार अगृहीत पुद्गलों को ग्रहण कर छोड़ दिया, अनन्त बार मिश्र द्रव्य को ग्रहण कर छोड़ दिया, अनन्त बार गृहीत को भी ग्रहण कर छोड़ दिया, जब वही जीव उन ही स्निग्ध- रूक्षादि भावों से युक्त उन्हीं पुद्गलों को जिसने समय बाद ग्रहण करे, प्रारंभ से लेकर उतने काल समुदाय को नौकर्मद्रव्य परिवर्तन कहते हैं।
