. जैनदर्शन को समझने की कुंजी है-'कर्मसिद्धान्त' । समग्र दर्शन एवं तत्त्वज्ञान का आधार है आत्मा । और आत्मा की विविध दशाओं, स्वरूपों का विवेचन एवं उसके परिवर्तनों का रहस्य उद्घाटित करता है, 'कर्मसिद्धान्त' । इसलिए जैनदर्शन को समझने के लिए 'कर्मसिद्धान्त' को समझना अनिवार्य है। . कर्मसिद्धान्त का विवेचन करने वाले प्रमुख ग्रन्थों में 'श्रीमद् देवेन्द्रमूरि रचित कर्मग्नन्थ अपना विशिष्ट महत्त्व रखते हैं। जैन साहित्य में इनका अत्यन्त महत्त्वपूर्ण स्थान है। तत्त्वजिज्ञासु भी कर्मग्रन्थों को आगम की तरह प्रतिदिन अध्ययन एवं स्वाध्याय की वस्तु मानते हैं । ___ कर्मग्रन्थों की संस्कृत टीकाएं बड़ी महत्वपूर्ण है । इनके कई गुजराती अनुवाद भी हो चुके हैं। हिन्दी में कर्मग्रन्थों का सर्वप्रथम विवेचन प्रस्तुत किया था विद्वद्वरेण्य मनीषी प्रवर महाप्राज्ञ पं० सुखलालजी ने । उनकी शैली तुलनात्मक एवं विद्वत्ताप्रधान है। पं० सुखलालजी का विवेचन आज प्रायः दुष्प्राप्य-सा है। कुछ समय से आशुकविरत्न गुरुदेवश्री मरुधरकेसरीजी म. से प्रेरणा मिल रही थी कि कर्मग्रन्थों का आधुनिक शैली में विवेचन प्रस्तुत करना चाहिए । उनकी प्रेरणा एवं निदेशन से यह सम्पादन प्रारम्भ हुआ। विद्याविनोदी श्री सुकनमुनिजी की प्रेरणा से यह कार्य बड़ी गति के साथ आगे बढ़ता गया। श्री देवकुमारजी जैन का सहयोग मिला और कार्य कुछ ही समय में आकार धारण करने योग्य बन गया।
