आयु और श्वासोच्छ्वास ये दस भेद हैं । ज्ञान, दर्शन आदि स्वाभाविक गुणों को भावप्राण कहते है ।

जीव के दो भेद हैं- (१) मुक्तजीव और ( २ ) संसारीजीत्र | मुक्तजीव- सम्पूर्ण कर्मों का क्षय करके जो अपने ज्ञान दर्शन आदि भावप्राणों से युक्त हैं, उन्हें मुक्तजीव कहते हैं ।
संसारी जीव जो अपने यथायोग्य द्रव्य-प्राणों और ज्ञानादि भावप्राणों से युक्त होकर नरकादि चतुर्गतिरूप संसार में परिभ्रमण करते रहते हैं, उन्हें संसारी जीव कहते हैं । जीव तत्त्व के चौदह भेद हैं ।

अजीव - जिसमें प्राण न हो, अर्थात् जड़ हो, उसे अजीव कहते हैं । धर्मास्तिकाय, अधर्मास्तिकाय, आकाशास्तिकाय, पुद्गलास्तिकाय और काल- ये अजीब हैं। इनमें से पुद्मलास्तिकाय रूपी अर्थात् रूप, रस, गंध और स्पर्श वाले हैं और शेष चारों अरूपी हैं, अर्थात् रूपादि गुणों से रहित हैं। अजीव तत्त्व के चौदह भेद हैं।
पुण्य - जिसके उदय से जीव को सुख का अनुभव होता है, उसे पुण्य कहते हैं । पुण्य के दो भेद हूँ (१) द्रव्य-पुण्य और (२) भावपुण्य । जिस कर्म के उदय से जीव को सुख का अनुभव होता है, उसे द्रव्यपुण्य और जीव के दया, करुणा, दान, भावना आदि शुभ परिणामों को भावपुण्य कहते हैं । पुण्य शुभ प्रकृति रूप है और शुभ योग से बँधता है । पुण्यप्रकृति के बयालीस भेद हैं ।
पाप-जिसके उदय से दुःख की प्राप्ति हो, आत्मा को
शुभ कार्यो से पृथक् रखे, उसे पाप कहते हैं । इसके दो भेद हैं- द्रव्यपाप, भावपाप । जिस कर्म के उदय से जीव दुःख का अनुभव करता है वह द्रव्यपाप है और जीव के अशुभ परिणाम को भावपाप कहते हैं । पाप अशुभ प्रकृति रूप है और अशुभ योगों में बँधता है । पापप्रकृति के बयासी भेद है ।
