हैं । अपूर्वकरण को प्राप्त होने वाले उन सब क्षपक और उपशामकजीत्रों के परिणामों में अपूर्वपने की अपेक्षा समानता पाई जाती है, इसलिए वे सब मिलकर एक अपूर्वकरण गुणस्थान होता है ।

गाथार्थ - अपूर्वकरण गुणस्थान का काल अन्तर्मुहूर्त है और इसमें परिणाम क्रमशः प्रतिसमय बहते हुए असंख्यात लोकप्रभाग होते हैं वे परिणाम उत्तरोत्तर प्रतिसमय समानवृद्धि को लिये हुए हैं। इस अपूर्वकरण गुणस्थान में नियम से अनुकृष्टि रचना नहीं होती ।। ५३ ।। अपूर्व परिणामों को धारण करने वाले जीव मोहनीय कर्म की ( शेष प्रकृतियों का ) क्षपण अथवा उपशमन करने में उद्यत होते हैं । अज्ञानरूपी अन्धकार से सर्वथा रहित जिनेन्द्रदेव ने ऐसा कहा है ।। ५४ ।।
विशेषार्थ - ( १ ) पूर्वकरण गुणस्थान का काल यद्यपि सामान्य से अन्तर्मुहूर्त कहा गया है। तथापि अधःप्रवृत्तकररण के अन्तर्मुहूर्त काल से संख्यातगुणा हीन है । ( २ ) अधःप्रवृत्तकरण के परिणामों की अपेक्षा अपूर्वकरण के परिणाम असंख्यातलोक गुण हैं। (३) अपूर्वकरण के प्रथम समय से लेकर अन्तिम समय तक के परिणाम प्रतिसमय क्रम से बढ़ते गये हैं अर्थात् संख्याव विशुद्धता दोनों ही प्रतिसमय बढ़ती गई हैं। अपूर्वकरण के प्रतिसमय परिणामों की खण्ड- रचना नहीं होती, क्योंकि इस गुरगस्थान में उपरितन समयवर्ती जीवों के परिणाम अधस्तन समयवर्ती जीवों के परिणामों के सण नहीं होते हैं । अधःप्रवृत्तकररण में उपरितन समय के परिणाम प्रधस्तन समयों के परिणामों के सदृश होते हैं इसलिए अधः प्रवृत्तकरणा में परिणामों की अनुकृष्टि रचना होती है ।
अपूर्व परिणामों को धारण करने वाले जीव अर्थात् साठवें गुणस्थानवर्ती जीव मोहनीय कर्म की शेष २१ प्रकृतियों का क्षय करने में अथवा उपशम करने में उद्यमशील होते हैं ।
शङ्का - आठवें गुग्गस्थान में न तो कर्मों का क्षय ही होता है और न उपशम ही होता है फिर इस गुणस्थानवर्ती जीवों को क्षपण व उपशमन में उद्यमशील कैसे कहा गया है ?
समाधान नहीं, क्योंकि भावी अर्थ में भूतकालीन अर्थ के समान उपचार कर लेने पर आठवें गुरणस्थान में यह संज्ञा बन जाती है ।
शङ्का - इस प्रकार मानने से तो प्रतिप्रसङ्ग दोष प्राप्त होगा ?
समाधान — नहीं, क्योंकि प्रतिबन्धक मरण के प्रभाव में अर्थात् आयु के शेष रहने पर नियम से चारित्रमोह का उपशम करने वाले तथा चारित्रमोह का क्षय करने वाले, अतएव उपशमन और क्षरण के सम्मुख हुए जीव के क्षरण व उपशमन में उद्यमशील यह संज्ञा बन जाती है ।

Gāthārtha - The time of the unprecedentedness गुणस्थान is अन्तर्मुहूर्त and in it the results are countless लोकप्रभाग flowing continuously with each moment. Those results are progressively increasing with each moment. In this unprecedentedness गुणस्थान, by rule, there is no imitation creation. ||53|| The जीवs who possess unprecedented results are eager to क्षपण or उपशमन of the मोहनीय karma (the remaining natures). The Jinenḍradeva, who is completely free from the darkness of ignorance, has said so. ||54||
Viśeṣārtha - (1) The time of the पूर्वकरण गुणस्थान, although generally called अन्तर्मुहूर्त, is less than the अन्तर्मुहूर्त time of the अधःप्रवृत्तकररण by a countable number. (2) The results of the अधःप्रवृत्तकररण are less than the results of the unprecedentedness by countless लोक गुण. (3) The results from the first moment to the last moment of the unprecedentedness have increased progressively with each moment, i.e., both the number and purity have increased with each moment. There is no fragmentation of the results of the unprecedentedness with each moment, because in this गुरगस्थान, the results of the जीवs of the higher time are not the same as the results of the जीवs of the lower time. In the अधःप्रवृत्तकररण, the results of the higher time are similar to the results of the lower times, therefore there is imitation creation of results in the अधःप्रवृत्तकररण.
The जीवs who possess unprecedented results, i.e., the जीवs of the sixtieth गुणस्थान, are eager to क्षय or उपशमन of the remaining 21 natures of the मोहनीय karma.

Śaṅkā - By accepting this, will there not be a प्रतिप्रसङ्ग दोष?
Samādāna - No, because under the influence of प्रतिबन्धक मरण, i.e., when there is remaining lifespan, by rule, those who उपशमन of चारित्रमोह and those who क्षय of चारित्रमोह, therefore, the designation of being eager for क्षरण and उपशमन becomes established for the जीव who is facing उपशमन and क्षरण.
