ज्ञान ध्र ब ज्ञान से भिन्न है ।' यह वही है, वह मैं ही हूँ' इस प्रकार का प्रत्यय ध्रुव कहलाता है। इसका प्रतिपक्षभूत प्रत्यय प्रभ्र व है ।।
अवग्रह, ईहा, अवाय, धारणा इन चारों के और प्राभिनिबोधिक के पर्यायवाची नाम१. अवग्रह अवदान, सान, अवलम्बना और मेधा ये अवग्रह के पर्यायवाची नाम हैं। जिसके द्वारा घटादि पदार्थ 'अवगृह्यते' अर्थात् जाने जाते हैं वह अवग्रह है। जिसके द्वारा 'अवदीयते खण्ड्यते' अर्थात् अन्य पदार्थों से अलग करके विवक्षित अर्थ जाना जाता है वह अवग्रह का अन्य नाम प्रवचन है। जो अनध्यवसायको 'स्यति, छिनत्ति, हन्ति, विनाशयति' अर्थात् छेदता है नष्ट करता है, वह अवग्रह का तीसरा नाम 'सान' है। जो अपनी उत्पत्ति के लिए इन्द्रियादिक का अवलम्बन लेता वह अवग्रह का पाए म यसमधना है। जिसके द्वारा पयार्थ 'मेध्यप्ति' अर्थात् जाना जाता है बह अवग्रह का पाँचवाँ नाम मेधा है।
ईहा, ऊहा, अपोहा, मार्गणा, गवेषणा और मीमांसा ये ईहा के पर्याय नाम हैं ।।३८।।
जिस बुद्धि के द्वारा उत्पन्न हुए संशय का नाश करने के लिए 'ईहते' अर्थात् चेष्टा करते हैं वह 'ईहा है। जिसके द्वारा प्रबग्रह से ग्रहण किये गये अर्थ के नहीं जाने गये विशेष की 'ऊह्यते' अर्थात् तर्कणा करते हैं वह 'कहा है। जिसके द्वारा संशय के कारणभूत विकल्प का 'अपोह्यते' अर्थात् निराकरण किया जाता है वह 'प्रपोहा' है। अवग्रह से ग्रहण किये गये अर्थ के विशेष की जिसके द्वारा गवेषणा की जाती है वह गवेषणा' है। अपग्रह से ग्रहण किया गया अर्थ जिसके द्वारा विशेष रूप से मीमांसित किया जाता है (विचारा जाता है) वह 'मीमांसा' है।४
अवाय, व्यवसाय, बुद्धि, विज्ञप्ति, प्रामुण्डा और प्रत्यामुण्डा, ये अवाय के पर्याय नाम हैं ॥३६॥
जिसके द्वारा मीमांसित अर्थ 'अवेयते' अर्थात् निश्चित किया जाता है वह 'प्रवाय' है। जिसके द्वारा अन्वेषित अर्थ थ्यवसीयते' अर्थात् निश्चित किया जाता है वह 'व्यवसाय है। जिसके द्वारा ऊहित अर्थ 'बुद्धयले अर्थात् जाना जाता है वह बुद्धि' है। जिसके द्वारा तर्कसंगत अर्थ विशेष रूप से जाना जाता है वह "विज्ञप्ति' है। जिसके द्वारा विक्रित अर्थ प्रामुड्यते' अर्थात् संकोचित किया जाता है वह 'प्रामुडा' है। जिसके द्वारा मीमांसित अर्थ अलग-२ 'प्रामुण्ड्यते' अर्थात् संकोचित किया जाता है वह प्रत्यामुण्डा है।
धरणी, धारणा, स्थापना, कोष्ठा और प्रतिष्ठा ये एकार्थ नाम हैं ।।४०।।
धरणी के समान बुद्धि का नाम घरणी है। जिस प्रकार घरणी (पृथिवी) गिरि, नदी, सागर, वृक्ष, भाड़ी और पत्थर प्रादि को धारण करती है उसी प्रकार जो बुद्धि निति अर्थ को धारण करती है वह 'धरणी' है। जिसके द्वारा निीत अर्थ धारण किया जाता है वह 'धारणा' है। जिसके द्वारा निर्णीत रूपसे अर्थ स्थापित किया जाता है वह 'स्थापना' है। कोष्ठ के समान बुद्धि का नाम 'कोष्ठर' है। कोष्ठा कुस्थली को कहते हैं। उसके समान जो निर्णीत अर्थ को धारण करती
