चतुश्चत्वारिंशत्तमं पर्व
३९९ धारा वीररसस्येव रेजे रक्तस्य कस्यचित् । पतन्ती सततं धैर्यादाश्वनूत्पाटिताशुगम् ॥१३१॥ 'सायकोद्मिनमालोक्य कान्तस्य हृदयं प्रिया । परासुरासीच्चित्तेऽस्य वदन्तीवात्मनः स्थितिम् ॥१३२॥ छिन्नदण्डैः फलैः कश्चित् सर्वाङ्गीणैर्मटाग्रणीः । कीलितासुरिवाकम्प्रस्तथैव युयुधे चिरम् ॥१३३॥ विलोक्य विलयज्वालि ज्वालालोलशिखोपमैः । शिलीमुखैबलं छिन्नं स्वं विपक्षधनुर्धरैः ॥१३४॥
गृहीत्वा वज्रकाण्डाख्यं सज्जीकृत्य शरासनम् । स्वयं योद्धं समारब्धं सक्रोधः सानुजो जयः ॥१३५॥ 'कर्णाभ्यीकृतास्तस्य गुणयुक्ताः सुयोजिताः । पत्रैलघुसमुस्थानाः कालक्षेपाविधायिनः ॥१३॥ मार्गे प्रगुणसञ्चाराः प्रविश्य हृदयं द्विषाम् । कृच्छ्रार्थं साधयन्ति स्म 'निस्सृष्टार्थसमाः शराः ॥१३७॥ पत्रवन्तः प्रतापोग्राः समग्रा विग्रहे द्रुताः । अज्ञातपातिनश्चक्रुः कूटयुद्धं शिलीमुखाः ॥१३८॥
सामर्थ्यसे रहित शत्रुको वश कर लेते हैं उसी प्रकार वे बाण भी शत्रुको वश कर लेते थे॥१२९१३०॥ निकाले हुए बाणके पीछे बहुत शीघ्र धीरतासे निरन्तर पड़ती हुई किसी पुरुषके रुधिरको धारा वीररसकी धाराके समान सुशोभित हो रही थी ॥१३१।। कोई स्त्री अपने पतिका हृदय बाणसे विदीर्ण हआ देखकर प्राणरहित हो गयी थी मानो वह कह रही थी कि मेरा निवास इसीके हदय में है ॥१३२।। जिनके दण्ड टूट गये हैं और जो सब शरीर में घुस गये हैं ऐसे बाणोंकी नोकोंसे जिसके प्राण मानो कीलित कर दिये गये हैं ऐसा कोई योद्धा पहलेकी तरह ही निश्चल हो बहुत देर तक लड़ता रहा था ॥१३३।। शत्रुओंके धनुषधारी योद्धाओंने प्रलयकालकी जलती हुई अग्निकी चंचल शिखाओंके समान तेजस्वी बाणोंके द्वारा मेरी सेनाको छिन्नभिन्न कर दिया है यह देख जयकुमारने अपने छोटे भाइयों सहित क्रोधित हो वजूकाण्ड नामका धनुष लिया और उसे सजाकर स्वयं युद्ध करना प्रारम्भ किया ॥१३४-१३५।। उस समय जयकुमारके बाण निःसृष्टार्थ ( उत्तम ) दूतके समान जान पड़ते थे क्योंकि जिस प्रकार उत्तम दूत स्वामीके कानके पास रहते हैं अर्थात् कानसे लगकर बातचीत करते हैं उसी प्रकार बाण भी जयकुमारके कानके पास रहते थे अर्थात् कान तक खींचकर छोड़े जाते थे, जिस प्रकार उत्तम दूत गुण अर्थात् रहस्य रक्षा आदिसे युक्त होते हैं उसी प्रकार बाण भी गुण अर्थात् डोरीसे युक्त थे, जिस प्रकार उत्तम दूतकी योजना अच्छी तरह की जाती है उसी प्रकार बाणोंकी योजना भी अच्छी तरह की गयी थी, जिस प्रकार उत्तम दूत पत्र लेकर जल्दी उठ खडे होते हैं उसी प्रकार बाण भी अपने पंखोंसे जल्दी-जल्दी उठ रहे थे-जा रहे थे, जिस प्रकार उत्तम दत व्यर्थ समय नहीं खोते हैं उसी प्रकार बाण भी व्यर्थ समय नहीं खोते थे. जिस प्रकार उत्तम दूत मार्गमें सीधे जाते हैं उसी प्रकार बाण भी मार्गमें सीधे जा रहे थे और जिस प्रकार उत्तम दूत शत्रुओंके हृदयमें प्रवेश कर कठिनसे कठिन कार्यको सिद्ध कर लेते हैं उसी प्रकार बाण भी शत्रुओंके हृदयमें घुसकर कठिनसे कठिन कार्य सिद्ध कर लेते थे ॥१३६-१३७॥ अथवा ऐसा
