અર્વાચીન ગુજરાતી કવિતામાં મૃત્યુનું નિરૂપણ * 38 હોરેસ સ્મિથ મૃત્યુને જીવનના નિદ્રિત ભાગીદાર તરીકે ઓળખાવે છે. ફેલિશિયા હેમેન્સ કહે છે, “મૃત્યુને પણ એની આગવી ઋતુઓ છે. પાંદડાઓ એના નિશ્ચિત સમયે ખરે છે. ને ઉત્તરના પવનઝપાટે પેલાં ફૂલો વિલાય છે. ને પેલા તારાઓ પણ એના નક્કી સમયે જ અદશ્ય થાય છે.” 78 "There is a remedy for everything, but death, whirh will be sure to lay us out that sometime or other." 79 (Cervantes.
