अनेक नये जैनमन्दिर बनवाये, रथ उत्सव निकलवाये और पंच कल्याणक पूजायें कराई। जैनियों के अनेक अनाथालय, कॉलिज, हस्पताल तथा कारखाने चल रहे हैं, जिनसे सारा देश लाभ उठा रहा है और लाखों नौजवान अपनी जीविका प्राप्त कर रहे हैं। इनसे ही प्रभावित होकर हमारे उत्तर-प्रदेश के प्रधानमन्त्री पं. गोविन्दवल्लभ पन्त जी ने कहा, "जैनियों ने लोक-सेवा की भावना से भारत में अपना एक अच्छा स्थान बना रखा है। उनके द्वारा देश में कला
और उद्योग की काफी उन्नति हुई है। उनके धर्म और समाज सेवा के कार्य सार्वजनिक होने की भावना से ही होते रहे हैं और उनके कार्यों से जनता के सभी वर्गों ने लाभ उठाया है"
कुछ जैनियों को भ्रम हे'गया था कि Constitution of India उनके धार्मिक कार्यों में बाधक है । २५ जनवरी १९५० को उनका एक डेपूटेशन प्रधानमन्त्री पं० जवाहरलाल जी से मिला तो उन्होंने कानून का मतलब स्पष्ट करते हुए विश्वास दिलाया, "जैनियों को अपने धर्म और समाज के सम्बन्ध में किसी प्रकार का भय करने का कोई कारण नहीं है, क्योंकि देश का कानून उनके किसी धार्मिक कार्य में बाधा नहीं डालता" । १ जैन सन्देश (१५-२-१६५१) पृ० २ब इसी ग्रन्थ का पृ० ८८।
Letter No. 23/94/50 P. M. S. New Delhi, dated 31-1--1950 from Shri A V. Pai, the Principal Privatc Secretary of the Prime Minister to Shri S. G. Patil, Representative of Jain Deputation, 10 Court Road, New Delhi;-“With reference to the deputation of certain representatives of the Jains, who met the Prime Minister on 25th january. I am desired to say that there is no cause, whatever, for Jains to have any apprehension regarding the future of their religion and community. Your deputation drew attention to article 25, Explanation II of the Constitution. This constitution only lay down a rule of constitution for limited purposes of the provision in the Article and as you will notiee, it mentions not only Jains but also Buddhists and Sikhs. It is clear that Buddhists are not Hindus. It is therefore, there is no reason for thinking that Jain are considered as Hindus. It is true that Jains are some ways closely aliked to Hindus and have many customs in common. but there is no doubt that they are a distinct religious community and the constitution does not in any way effect this well recognized position."
