: ૯૭ : સંભવ છે કે આ રૂદ્રદામાના પુત્ર દામ- આવેલ હોય. ક્ષત્રપરાજાઓએ આચાર્ય જદશ્રીએ ગિરનાર પર્વત ઉપર શ્રી નેમિ- કાલકસૂરિના પ્રભાવથી જૈનધર્મ +અપનાનાથ ભગવાનનાં મંદિર સંબંધી કાંઈ બાંધ- વ્યો હોય. કારણ કે પ્રાચીન સાહિત્યથી કામ કે સમારકામ કરાવ્યું હોય અને તેની તેમનો પ્રભાવ ઘણે હતું એમ જણાય છે. યાદગીરિ માટે આ શિલાલેખ કેતરાવ્યું હોય, Dr. James Burggess નું પણ મારા
એ રીતે એમ પણ માનવાને કારણું અનુમાનને લેગતું જ એવું મંતવ્ય છે કે મળે છે કે, આચાર્ય કાલકરિ સાથે શક- “Kevalina' એ મોટે ભાગે જેનોમાં જ બહુ લોકે આવ્યા ત્યારથી જ તે રાજાઓમાં એ પ્રચાર પામેલો શબ્દ છે અને તેથી શિલાલેખ ધર્મને પ્રભાવ રહી ગયો હોય અને તે થી એવું જણાય છે કે તે જૈનોને શિલા દામજદશ્રી અથવા રૂદ્રસિંહ સુધી ચાલ્યો લેખ હે જોઈએ.
* ગિરનાર પર્વત જનોનું તીર્થસ્થાન છે, અને શ્રી નેમિનાથ વીશમાં તીર્થકરના ત્રણ કલ્યાણુકે દીક્ષા ક૯યાણુ, કેવળજ્ઞાન પાછુક ને નિર્વાણ કલ્યાણક ત્યાં થયાં છે. + મૌષ્ટિકથાવિકૃતિદરે તબ્ધ સેવા: રતિ કથથથયા તત્ર કયાષશિવન રાજા | ते श्रीमत्कालकाचार्यपर्युपासनतत्पराः। चिर राज्यानि बुभुजुर्जिनधर्मप्रभाषकाः ॥६॥
હાહાકાર્ય ( જ્ઞનવીય ) કથા . ૧૦-૨ गुरोनिदेशाद् इति तैः प्रष्टैः भूपैः प्रयाणं झटिति प्रदत्तम् ।। सर्वेऽपि भूपाः सुगुरोश्च सेवां कुर्वन्ति बद्धाञ्जलयो विनीता; ॥ ३० ॥

कालकाचार्य कथा. प. ९१ * " ... The most interesting point about it is the word #f a starai « of those who have obtained the knowledge of Kevalins.” Kevalin occurs most frequently in the Jain sculptures and denotes' & person who is possessed of the Keval-jnana' or true knowlede which produces final emancipation.' It would, therefore, seem that the inscription is Jain.”
From this it would appear that these caves were probably excavated for the Jainas by the Saha Kings of Saurastra about the end the second century of the Christian era. They may, however, be much older, and the inscription may merely commemorate their being devoted to the Jainas, by the Saha king, possibly after they had ceased to be used by the Buddhas; or, the inscription may have been brought from some other caves now entirely destroyed. ૧૩
