" But in the same time the Jainas know how to tell the moral tales in a simple style for those who were not highly cultivated. Jain literature gives nourishment in the same time to the scbolar, to those who like refined literary compositions, and to those who like fine fairy and other tales, related in a simple style whicb is adapted to this kind of literature. Neither the Baudbhas nor the Hindu authors know, bow to tell a tale. In the same time what would have become of Indian Sculpture and architecture, if the Jainas bad kept, as you eay, to conservative ideas, i. e. if they had not caused statues of the Tirtbankaras to be made and temples to be built."
અથોત-જૈનલેક શિક્ષાપ્રદ કથા સરલ ભાષામાં તે પુરૂષના હિતાર્થ લખતા હતા કે જેઓ ઘણા શિક્ષિત નહિ હતા. જૈન સાહિત્ય તે લોકોને પણ સુખપ્રદ છે કે જેઓ ઉચ્ચ પ્રકારની સાહિત્ય પ્રણાલીને ચાહે છે. અને તેઓને પણ લાભપ્રદ છે કે જેઓ દેવી-દેવતાઓનાં ચરિત્ર એવી સરલ ભાષામાં ચાહે છે કે-જે કથા પ્રસંગને યોગ્ય છે. બદ્ધ અને હિંદુશાસ્ત્રકારે કથા લખવી જાણતા નહિં હતા. ભારતના શિલાશિલ્પ અને ગૃહનિર્માણ કૌશલ્યની શી દશા થાત, ને જેને એકાન્ત વિચારમાં જ રહ્યા હતા. અને પોતાના તીર્થકરોની મૂર્તિ એનું અને દેવાલયોનું નિર્માણ નહિ કો.
