Hastinapur is also a place of historical importance where many empires and kingdoms have flourished and perished. It was the famous capital of the Pandavas of the Mahabharat. After the great battle of the Mahabharat it fell into ruins and was deserted, but the immortal message of the World's Greatest Teacher of Ahimsa and the Great Tirthankaras of Jain religion is still resounding in the nook and corner of this great town. Modern Hastinapur Modern Hastinapur is a small town on the deserted banks of the river Ganga at a distance of 24 miles from Meerut. There is a motorable tar road and buses are available every few hours.
