हे भगवंत ! जो रात-दिन सिद्धांत सूत्र पढ़े, श्रवण करे, व्याख्यान करे, सतत चिन्तन करे वो क्या अनाचार आचरण करे? हे गौतम ! सिद्धान्त में रहे एक भी शब्द जो जानते हैं, वो मरणान्ते भी अनाचार सेवन न करे । सूत्र-८४६
हे भगवंत ! तो दश पूर्वी महाप्रज्ञावाले नंदिषण ने प्रव्रज्या का त्याग करके क्यों गणिका के घर में प्रवेश किया ? ऐसा कहा जाता है कि हे गौतम ! सूत्र-८४७-८५२
उसे भोगफल स्खलना की वजह हुई । वो हकीकत प्रसिद्ध है। फिर भी भव के भय से काँपता था । और उसके बाद जल्द दीक्षा अंगीकार की । शायद पाताल ऊंचे मुखवाला हो, स्वर्ग नीचे मुखवाला हो तो भी केवली ने कहा वचन कभी भी अन्यथा नहीं होता । दूसरा उसने संयम की रक्षा के लिए काफी उपाय किया, शास्त्र अनुसार सोचकर गुरु के चरणकमल में लिंग-वेश अर्पण करके कोई न पहचाने वैसे देश में चला गया।
उस वचन का स्मरण करते हुए अपने चारित्र, मोहनीय कर्म के उदय में सर्व, विरति, महाव्रत का भंग और बद्ध, स्पृष्ट, निकाचित ऐसे कर्म का भोगफल भुगतता था । हे भगवंत ! शास्त्र में निरुपण किए ऐसे उसने कौन-से उपाय सोचे कि ऐसा सुन्दर श्रमणपन छोड़कर आज भी वो प्राण धारण करता है ? हे गौतम ! केवली प्ररूपित उपाय को बतानेवाले सूत्र का स्मरण करेंगे या विषय से पराभवित मनि इस सत्र को याद करे। सूत्र-८५३-८५५
जब विषय उदय में आए तब काफी दुष्कर, घोर ऐसे तरह का आँठ गुना तप शुरु करे । किसी रात को विषय रोकने में समर्थ न हो सके तो पर्वत पर से भृगुपात करे, काँटेवाले आसन पर बैठे, विषपान करे, उबंधन करके फाँसी चड़कर मर जाना बेहतर है, लेकिन महाव्रत या चारित्र की ली गई प्रतिज्ञा का भंग न करे । विराधना करना उचित नहीं है। शायद यह किए गए उपाय करने में समर्थ न हो तो गुरु को वेश समर्पण करके ऐसे विदेश में चला जाए कि जहाँ के समाचार परिचित क्षेत्र में न आए, अणुव्रत का यथाशक्ति पालन करना कि जिससे भावि में निर्ध्वंसाता न पाए। सूत्र-८५६-८६४
हे गौतम ! नंदिषेण ने जब पर्वत पर से गिरने का आरम्भ किया तब आकाश में से ऐसी वाणी सुनाइ दी कि पर्वत से गिरने के बाद भी मौत नहीं मिलेगी । जितने में दिशामुख की ओर देखा तो एक चारण मुनि दिखाइ दिए । तो उन्होंने कहा कि तुम्हारी अकाल मौत नहीं होगी । तो फिर विषम झहर खाने के लिए गया । तब भी विषय का दर्द न सहा जाने पर काफी दर्द होने लगा, तब उसे फिक्र लगी कि अब मेरे जीने का क्या प्रयोजन ? मोगरे के पुष्प और चन्द्र समान निर्मल, उज्ज्वल वर्णवाले इस प्रभु के शासन को वाकई पापमतिवाला मैं उड्डाहणा करवाऊंगा तो अनार्य ऐसा मैं कहाँ जाऊंगा? या फिर चन्द्र लांछनवाला है, मोगरे के पुष्प की प्रभा अल्पकाल में मुझानेवाली है, जब कि जिनशासन तो कलिकाल की कलुषता के मल और कलंक से सर्वथा रहित लम्बे अरसे तक जिसकी प्रभा टिकनेवाली है, इसलिए समग्र दारिद्र्य, दुःख और क्लेश का क्षय करनेवाले इस तरह के इस जैन प्रवचन की अपभ्राजना करवाऊंगा तो फिर कहाँ जाकर अपने आत्मा की शुद्धि करूँगा ? दुःख से करके गमन किया जाए, बड़ी-बड़ी शिलाए हो, जिसकी बड़ी खदान हो, वो पर्वत पर चड़कर जितने में विषयाधीन होकर मैं सहज भी शासन की उड्डाह न करूँ उसके पहले छलांग लगाकर मेरे शरीर के टुकड़े कर दूँ।
उस प्रकार फिर से छेदित शिखरवाले महापर्वत पर चड़कर आगार रखे बिना पच्चखाण करने लगे । तब

O Bhagvant! What measures did he think of, as described in the śāstra, that even today, he sustains his life, abandoning such a beautiful śramaṇapan? O Gautama! Will those who remember the Sūtra that describes the measures taken by a Kevali, or will those who are overcome by the object, remember this session? Sūtra-853-855
When the object arises, one should begin an eightfold austerity, which is very difficult and severe. If one is unable to control the object on any given night, it is better to fall from a mountain, sit on a bed of thorns, drink poison, or hang oneself, but not break the vow taken for mahāvrata or character. It is not appropriate to be unfaithful. If one is unable to perform these measures, one should offer one's veśa to the guru and go to a foreign country where news does not reach the familiar region, and observe aṇuvrata to the best of one's ability, so that one does not experience nirdhvaṃsātā in the future. I will truly be a sinner if I destroy the rule of this Lord, who is like a fragrant flower and a pure, radiant moon. Where will I go, an uncivilized person like me? Or is the moon marked with a blemish, and the fragrance of the jasmine flower fleeting, while the Jinaśāsana, free from the dirt and stain of the Kaliyuga, will last for a long time? If I slander this Jain preaching, which destroys all poverty, sorrow, and suffering, where will I go to purify my soul?" He went with sorrow, climbed a mountain with large rocks and a large quarry, and jumped, breaking his body into pieces, before he could easily destroy the rule while being subject to the object.
