अध्ययन/उद्देश/सूत्रांक अध्ययन-३-कुशील-लक्षण सूत्र - ४६७
यह तीसरा अध्ययन चारों को (साधु-साध्वी, श्रावक-श्राविका को) सूना शके उस प्रकार का है । क्योंकि अति बड़े और अति श्रेष्ठ आज्ञा से श्रद्धा करने के लायक सूत्र और अर्थ हैं । उसे यथार्थ विधि से उचित शिष्य को देना चाहिए। सूत्र-४६८-४६९
जो कोई इसे प्रकटपन से प्ररूपे, अच्छी तरह से बिना योग करनेवाले को दे, अब्रह्मचारी से पढ़ाए, उद्देशादिक विधि रहित को पढ़ाए वो उन्माद, पागलपन पाए या लम्बे अरसे की बीमारी-आतंक के दुःख भुगते, संयम से भ्रष्ट हो, मरण के वक्त आराधना नहीं पाते । सूत्र-४७०-४७३
यहाँ प्रथम अध्ययन में पूर्व विधि बताई है । दूसरे अध्ययन में इस तरह का विधि कहना और बाकी के अध्ययन की अविधि समझना, दूसरे अध्ययन में पाँच आयंबिल उसमें नौ उद्देशा होते हैं । तीसरे में आठ आयंबिल और सात उद्देशो, जिस प्रकार तीसरे में कहा उस प्रकार चौथे अध्ययन में भी समझना, पाँचवे अध्ययन में छ आयंबिल, छठे में दो, सातवे में तीन, आठवे में दश आयंबिल ऐसे लगातार आयंबिल तप संलग्न आऊत्तवायणा सहित आहार पानी ग्रहण करके यह महानिशीथ नाम के श्रेष्ठ श्रुतस्कंध को वहन धारण करना चाहिए। सूत्र - ४७४
गम्भीरतावाले महा बुद्धिशाली तप के गुण युक्त अच्छी तरह से परीक्षा में उत्तीर्ण हुए हों, काल ग्रहण विधि की हो उन्हें वाचनाचार्य के पास वाचना ग्रहण करनी चाहिए। सूत्र - ४७५-४७६
हमेशा क्षेत्र की शुद्धि सावधानी से जब करे तब यह पढ़ाना । वरना किसी क्षेत्र देवता से हैरान हो । अंग और उपांग आदि सूत्र का यह सारभूत श्रेष्ठ तत्त्व है । महानिधि से अविधि से ग्रहण करने में जिस तरह धोखा खाती है वैसे इस श्रुतस्कंध से अविधि से ग्रहण करने में ठगाने का अवसर उत्पन्न होता है। सूत्र- ४७७-४७८
या तो श्रेयकारी-कल्याणकारी कार्य कईं विघ्नवाले होते हैं । श्रेय में भी श्रेय हो तो यह श्रुतस्कंध है, इसलिए उसे निर्विघ्न ग्रहण करना चाहिए । जो धन्य है, पुण्यवंत है वो ही इसे पढ़ सकते हैं। सूत्र-४७९
हे भगवंत ! उस कुशील आदि के लक्षण किस तरह के होते हैं ? कि जो अच्छी तरह जानकर उस का सर्वथा त्याग कर सके? सूत्र - ४८०-४८१
हे गौतम ! आम तोर पर उनके लक्षण इस प्रकार समझना और समझकर उसका सर्वथा संसर्ग त्याग करना, कुशील दो सौ प्रकार के जानना, ओसन्न दो तरह के बताए हैं । ज्ञान आदि के पासत्था, बाईश तरह से और सबल चारित्रवाले तीन तरह के हैं । हे गौतम ! उसमें जो दो सौ प्रकार के कुशील हैं वो तुम्हें पहले कहता हूँ कि जिसके संसर्ग से मुनि पलभर में भ्रष्ट होता है। सूत्र-४८२-४८४
