आगम सूत्र ३९, छेदसूत्र-५, 'महानिशीथ'
अध्ययन/उद्देश/सूत्रांक सत्वरे जन्म-मरण, जरा सर्व तरह के दारिद्र्य और दुःख से मुक्त होते हैं । सूत्र- ४२४-४२६
हे गौतम ! जगत में ऐसे भी जीव हैं कि जो यह जानने के बाद भी एकान्त सुखशीलपन के कारण से सम्यग मार्ग की आराधना में प्रवृत्त नहीं हो सकते । किसी जीव सम्यग मार्ग में जुड़कर घोर और वीर संयम तप का सेवन करे लेकिन उसके साथ यह जो पाँच बातें कही जाएगी उसका त्याग न करे तो उसके सेवन किए गए संयम तप सर्व निरर्थक हैं । १. कुशील, २. ओसन्न-शिथिलपन ऐसा कठिन संयम जीवन ? ऐसा बोल उठे । ३. यथाच्छंदस्वच्छंद, ४. सबल-दूषित चारित्रवाले, ५. पासत्थो । इन पाँच को दृष्टि से भी न देखें। सूत्र-४२७
सर्वज्ञ भगवंत ने उपदेश दीया हुआ मार्ग सर्व दुःख को नष्ट करनेवाला है। और शाता गौरव में फँसा हुआ, शिथिल आचार सेवन करनेवाला, भगवंत ने बताए मोक्षमार्ग को छोडनेवाला होता है। सूत्र-४२८
सर्वज्ञ भगवंत ने बताए एक पद या एक शब्द को भी जो न माने, रुचि न करे और विपरीत प्ररूपणा करे उसे जरुर मिथ्यादृष्टि समझो। सूत्र-४२९
इस प्रकार जानकर उस पाँच का संसर्ग दर्शन, बातचीत करना, पहचान, सहवास आदि सर्व बात हित केकल्याण के अर्थी सर्व उपाय से वर्जन करना । सूत्र-४३०
हे भगवंत ! शील भ्रष्ट का दर्शन करने का आप निषेध करते हो और फिर प्रायश्चित्त तो उसे देते हो । यह दोनों बात किस तरह संगत हो सके ? सूत्र - ४३१
हे गौतम ! शीलभ्रष्ट आत्मा को संसार सागर पार करना काफी मुश्किल है। इसलिए यकीनन वैसे आत्मा की अनुकंपा करके उसे प्रायश्चित्त दिया जाता है। सूत्र - ४३२
हे भगवंत ! क्या प्रायश्चित्त करने से नरक का बँधा हुआ आयु छेदन हो जाए? हे गौतम ! प्रायश्चित्त करके भी कईं आत्माए दुर्गति में गई है। सूत्र - ४३३-४३४
हे गौतम ! जिन्होंने अनन्त संसार उपार्जन किया है ऐसे आत्मा यकीनन प्रायश्चित्त से उसे नष्ट करते हैं, तो फिर वो नरक की आयु क्यों न तोडे ? इस भवन में प्रायश्चित्त से छ भी असाध्य नहीं है । एक बोधिलाभ सिवा जीव को प्रायश्चित्त से कुछ भी असाध्य नहीं है । एक बार पाया हुआ बोधिलाभ हार जाए तो फिर से मिलना मुश्किल है सूत्र - ४३५-४३६
अपकाय परिभोग, अग्निकाय आरम्भ और मैथुन सेवन अबोधि लाभ-कर्म बंधानेवाले हैं, इसलिए उसका वर्जन करना । अबोधि बँधानेवाले मैथुन, अपकाय, अग्निकाय का परिभाग संयत आत्माए प्रयत्नपूर्वक त्याग करे । सूत्र - ४३७
हे भगवंत ! उपर बताए हुए कार्य से अबोधि लाभ हो तो वो गृहस्थ हमेशा वैसे कार्य में प्रवृत्त होते हैं । उन्हें शिक्षाव्रत, गुणव्रत और अणुव्रत धारण करना निष्फल माना जाए क्या ?

O Bhagvant! You forbid seeing the corrupt in conduct, and then you give them atonement. How can these two things be compatible? Sutra-431
O Gautam! It is very difficult for a corrupt soul to cross the ocean of the world. Therefore, such a soul is certainly given atonement out of compassion. Sutra-432
O Bhagvant! Does atonement break the bondage of hell? O Gautam! Even after doing atonement, many souls have gone to hell. Sutra-433-434
O Gautam! Souls who have earned an infinite world certainly destroy it through atonement, then why don't they break the age of hell? In this abode, nothing is impossible with atonement. Except for one Bodhilabh, nothing is impossible for a being with atonement. Once Bodhilabh is lost, it is difficult to get it back. Sutra-435-436
Apkay Paribhog, Agnigay Aarambh and Mithun Sevan are the ones who bind the Abodhi Labh-Karma, therefore, one should avoid them. Restrained souls should strive to abandon Mithun, Apkay, and Agnigay, which bind Abodhi. Sutra-437
O Bhagvant! If Abodhi Labh happens from the above-mentioned actions, then those householders are always inclined towards such actions. Should they be considered to have failed in adopting Shikshavrata, Gunavrata and Anuvrata?
