आगम सूत्र ३९, छेदसूत्र-५, 'महानिशीथ'
अध्ययन/उद्देश/सूत्रांक तरह धर्म का स्पर्श नहीं होता वैसे उनका संकल्प करनेवाले को धर्म नहीं छूता । चारित्र में स्खलना हुई हो तो स्त्री के संकल्पवाले को आलोचना, निंदा, गर्दा प्रायश्चित्त करने का अध्यवसाय नहीं होता । आलोचना आदि न करने के कारण से अनन्तकाल तक दुःख समूहवाले संसार में घूमना पड़ता है । प्रायश्चित्त की विशुद्धि के होने के बावजूद भी फिर से उनके संसर्ग में आने से असंयम की प्रवृत्ति करनी पड़ती है । महापाप कर्म के ढ़ग समान साक्षात् हिंसा पिशाचिणी समान, समग्र तीन लोक से नफरत पाई हुई । परलोक के बड़े नुकसान को न देखनेवाले, घोर अंधकार पूर्ण नरकावास समान हमेशा कईं दुःख के निधान समान । स्त्री के अंग उपांग मर्मस्थान या उसका रूप लावण्य, उसकी मीठी बोली या कामराग की वृद्धि करनेवाला उसके दर्शन का अध्यवसाय भी न करना । सूत्र-४०८
हे गौतम ! यह स्त्री प्रलयकाल की रात की तरह जिस तरह हमेशा अज्ञान अंधकार से लिपीत है । बीजली की तरह पलभर में दिखते ही नष्ट होने के स्नेह स्वभाववाली होती है । शरण में आनेवाले का घात करनेवाले लोगों की तरह तत्काल जन्म दिए बच्चे के जीव का ही भक्षण करनेवाले समान महापाप करनेवाली स्त्री होती है, सज्जक पवन के योग से चूंघवाते उछलते लवणसमुद्र के लहर समान कई तरह के विकल्प-तरंग की श्रेणी की तरह जैसे एक स्थान में एक स्वामी के लिए स्थिर मन करके न रहनेवाली स्त्री होती है । स्वयंभूरमण समुद्र काफी गहरा होने से उसे अवगाहन करना अति कठिन होता है। वैसे स्त्री के दिल अति छल से भरे होते हैं। जिससे उसके दिल को पहचानना काफी मुश्किल है । स्त्री पवन समान चंचल स्वभाववाली होती है, अग्नि की तरह सबका भक्षण
वाला स्त्री होती है, चार की तरह पराई चीज पाने की लालसावाली होती है। कुत्ते को रोटी का टुकड़ा दे उतने वक्त दोस्त बन जाए । उसकी तरह जब तक उसे अर्थ दो तब तक मैत्री रखनेवाली यानि सर्वस्व हड़प करनेवाली और फिर बैरिणी होती है । मत्स्य लहरों में इकट्ठे हो, किनारे पर अलग हो जाए, उसके पास हो तब तक स्नेह रखनेवाली, दूर जाने के बाद भूल जानेवाली होती है । इस तरह कईं लाख दोष से भरपूर ऐसे सर्व अंग और उपांगवाली बाह्य और अभ्यंतर महापाप करनेवाली अविनय समान । विष की वेलडी, अविनय के कारण से अनर्थ समूह के उत्पन्न करनेवाली स्त्री होती है।
जिस स्त्री के शरीर से हमेशा नीकलते बदबूवाले अशुचि सड़े हुए कुत्सनीय, निन्दनीय, नफरत के लायक सर्व अंग उपांगवाली और फिर परमार्थ से सोचा जाए तो उसके भीतर और बाहर के शरीर के अवयव से ज्ञात महासत्त्ववाली कामदेव से ऊंबनेवाले और वैराग्य पाकर आत्मा से ज्ञात, सर्वोत्तम और उत्तम पुरुष को और धर्माधर्म का रूप अच्छी तरह से समजे हो उनको वैसी स्त्री के लिए पलभर भी कैसे अभिलाषा हो ? सूत्र-४०९-४१०
जिसकी अभिलाषा पुरुष करता है, उस स्त्री की योनि में पुरुष के एक संयोग के समय नौ लाख पंचेन्द्रिय संमूर्छिम जीव नष्ट होते हैं । वो जीव अति सूक्ष्म स्वरूप होने से चर्मचक्षु से नहीं देख सकते । इस कारण से ऐसा कहा जाता है कि स्त्री के साथ एक बार या बार बार बोलचाल न करना । और फिर उसके अंग या उपांग रागपूर्वक निरीक्षण न करना । यावत् ब्रह्मचारी पुरुष को मार्ग में स्त्री के साथ गमन नहीं करना । सूत्र-४११
हे भगवंत ! स्त्री के साथ बातचीत न करना, अंगोपांग न देखना या मैथुन सेवन का त्याग करना ? हे गौतम! दोनों का त्याग करो । हे भगवंत ! क्या स्त्री का समागम करने समान मैथुन का त्याग करना या कई तरह के सचित्त अचित्त चीज विषयक मैथुन का परिणाम मन, वचन, काया से त्रिविध से सर्वथा यावज्जीवन त्याग करे ? हे गौतम ! उसे सर्व तरीके से त्याग करो। सूत्र -४१२
हे भगवंत ! जो कोई साधु-साध्वी मैथुन सेवन करे वो दूसरों के पास वन्दन करवाए क्या ?

Just as the touch of religion does not occur to one who resolves to perform it, so also it does not touch the one who has lapsed in conduct. If there has been a lapse in conduct, then there is no resolve for the one whose resolve is towards a woman, to undergo penance, censure, reproach. Due to not undergoing censure etc., one has to wander in the cycle of transmigration with infinite suffering. Even though the purification of penance has occurred, yet again the tendency towards lack of restraint arises due to coming into contact with them. Like the act of a great sin, direct violence, demoness-like, hated by the three worlds. Not seeing the great harm of the other world, like the abode of deep darkness of hell, always a repository of many sorrows. Even the resolve to see the limbs, parts, vital spots or the beauty and charm of a woman's form, or her sweet speech, or that which increases passion, should not be made.

Sutra 408
O Gautama! This woman is like the night of dissolution, always enveloped in the darkness of ignorance. Like lightning, she appears for a moment and then gets destroyed. Like those who attack the one who has taken refuge, she immediately devours the life of the newborn child, a great sinner. Like the waves of the saline ocean stirred by the strong wind, she is a series of various options, not staying steady in one place for one master. Just as it is very difficult to fathom the depth of the self-existent ocean, similarly it is very difficult to understand the heart full of deceit of a woman. A woman is fickle-minded like the wind, devouring like fire, greedy like a dog. Like a dog, as long as you give her something, she remains a friend, and then becomes an enemy after taking everything. Like fish in the waves of the ocean, she is affectionate as long as she is near, and forgets after going away. In this way, full of countless defects, with all limbs and parts, externally and internally, a great sinner, like shamelessness.
The woman, from whose body always emanate foul-smelling, impure, contemptible, hateful, all limbs and parts, and then if one considers from the spiritual perspective, her internal and external bodily constituents are known to be of great essence, nauseating to Kamadeva, and known to the soul after attaining detachment, the supreme and best person who well understands the nature of righteousness and unrighteousness, how can he have even a moment's desire for such a woman?

Sutra 409-410
The woman whose desire a man fulfills, in her womb, at the time of a single union of the man, nine million five-sensed living beings are destroyed. Those living beings, being extremely subtle in form, cannot be seen by the physical eyes. Therefore, it is said that one should not converse with a woman even once or repeatedly, and also not inspect her limbs or parts with attachment. As far as possible, a celibate man should not walk on the path with a woman.

Sutra 411
O Venerable One! Is it the abandonment of conversation with a woman, not seeing her limbs and parts, or the abandonment of sexual intercourse? O Gautama! Abandon both. O Venerable One! Is the abandonment of sexual intercourse alone, or the complete abandonment for life, in every way, of sexual intercourse with all conscious and unconscious objects, through mind, speech and body, the three modes? O Gautama! Abandon it in all ways.

Sutra 412
O Venerable One! If any ascetic-ascetic woman engages in sexual intercourse, should they get others to pay obeisance to them?
