आगम सूत्र ३९, छेदसूत्र-५, 'महानिशीथ'
अध्ययन/उद्देश/सूत्रांक दुर्गति का निवारण करनेवाला, सुख परम्परा करवानेवाला अहिंसा लक्षणवाला, श्रमणधर्म मुश्किल से करनेवाला होता है । जितने में यह होता है उतने में तीर्थ का विच्छेद होता है इसलिए परमपद मोक्ष का फाँसला काफी बढ़ जाता है यानि मोक्ष काफी दूर चला जाता है । परमपद पाने का मार्ग दूर चला जाता है इसलिए काफी दुःखी ऐसे भव्यात्मा का समूह फिर चारगतिवाले संसार चक्र में अटक जाएंगे । इस कारण से हे गौतम ! ऐसा कहा जाता है कि इस तरह से कुगुरु अक्षर नहीं देंगे, उसे संघ बाहर नीकालने का उपदेश देना । सूत्र-१३९१
हे भगवंत ! कितने समय के बाद इस मार्ग में कुगुरु होंगे? हे गौतम ! आज से लेकर १२५० साल से कुछ ज्यादा साल के बाद वैसे कुगुरु होंगे । हे भगवंत ! किस कारण से वो कुगुरुरूप पाएंगे? हे गौतम ! उस समय उस वक्त ऋद्धि, रस और शाता नाम के तीन गारव की साधना कर के होनेवाले ममताभाव, अहंकारभाव रूप अग्नि से जिनके अभ्यंतर आत्मा और देह जल रहे हैं । मैंने यह कार्य किया । मैंने शासन की प्रभावना की ऐसे मानसवाले शास्त्र के यथार्थ परमार्थ को न जाननेवाले आचार्य गच्छनायक बनेंगे, इस वजह से वो कुगुरु कहलाएंगे । हे भगवंत! उस वक्त सर्व क्या उस तरह के गणनायक होंगे? हे गौतम ! एकान्ते सभी वैसे नहीं होंगे। कुछ दुरन्त प्रान्त लक्षणवाले-अधम-न देखने के लायक, एक माता ने साथ में जन्म देकर जुड़वा पैदा हुए हों, मर्यादा बिना पाप करने के स्वभाववाले, पूरे जन्म में दुष्ट कार्य करनेवाले, जाति, रौद्र, प्रचंड आभिग्राहिक बड़े मिथ्यात्व दृष्टि को अपनानेवाले होंगे । उसे किस तरह पहचाने ? उत्सूत्र उन्मार्ग प्रवर्तनेवाले उपदेश देनेवाले या अनुमति बतानेवाले हो वैसे निमित्त से वो पहचाने जाते हैं। सूत्र-१३९२
हे भगवंत ! जो गणनायक आचार्य हो वो सहज भी आवश्यक में प्रमाद करते है क्या ? हे गौतम ! जो गणनायक हैं वो बिना कारण सहज एक पलभर भी प्रमाद करे उसे अवंदनीय समझना । जो काफी महान कारण आने के बावजूद एक पलभर भी अपने आवश्यक में प्रमाद नहीं करते वो वंदनीय, पूजनीय, दर्शनीय यावत् सिद्ध बुद्ध पर पाए हुए क्षीण हुए आँठ कर्ममलवाले कर्मरज रहित के समान बताना । बाकी का अधिकार काफी विस्तार से अपने स्थानक से कहलाएगा। सूत्र - १३९३
इस अनुसार प्रायश्चित्त विधि श्रवण करके दीनता रहित मनवाला दोष का सेवन करने के उचित अनुष्ठान नहीं करता और जिस स्थान में जितनी शक्ति लगानी पड़े उतनी लगाता है । उसे आराधक आत्मा कहा है। सूत्र- १३९४-१३९५
जल, अग्नि, दुष्ट फाड़ खानेवाले जंगली-प्राणी, चोर, राजा, साँप, योगिनी के भय, भूत, यक्ष, राक्षस, क्षुद्र, पिशाच मारी मरकी कंकास, क्लेश, विघ्न, रोध, आजीविका, अटवी, सागर के बीच में फँसना, कोई दुष्ट चिन्तवन करे, अपसगुन आदि के भय के अवसर के वक्त इस विद्या का स्मरण करना।

इस श्रेष्ठ विद्या से विधिवत् अपनी आत्मा को अच्छी तरह से अभिमंत्रित करके यह कहेंगे तो सात अक्षर से एक मस्तक, दो बाहू, कुक्षी, पाँव के तलवे-ऐसे सात स्थान में स्थापन करना वो इस प्रकार- ऊं मस्तके, 'कु' - दाए खंभे की ग्रीवा पर, 'रु' दाईं कुक्षी के लिए, 'कु-दाँए पाँव के तलवे के लिए, 'ले' -बाँये पाँव के तलवे के लिए, 'स्वा' बाँई कुक्षी के लिए, 'हा' बाँये खंभे की ग्रीवा के लिए स्थापित करना ।

What will be the reason for their appearance as Kuguurus? O Gautam! At that time, those who practice the three Garvas (pride) of Riddhi (power), Ras (taste), and Shaata (peace), and whose inner soul and body are burning with the fire of Mamta (attachment) and Ahankar (ego), will become Acharya Gachchhayaks, not knowing the true essence of the Shastra, believing that they have done this work, that they have influenced the Shasana. Because of this, they will be called Kuguurus. O Bhagvant! Will all the Gachchhayaks at that time be of this kind? O Gautam! Not all of them will be like that. Some will be of the Durant Praant (extreme) type, despicable, unworthy of being seen, born as twins from the same mother, devoid of restraint, naturally inclined to sin, engaging in evil deeds throughout their lives, adopting the false views of Jaati (caste), Raudra (fierce), Prachand (intense), and Abhigarahik (greedy). How will they be recognized? They will be recognized by their actions, such as giving advice that leads to the wrong path, or giving permission for such actions. Sutra-1392

O Bhagvant! Will the Acharya Gachchhayaks also be negligent in their essential duties? O Gautam! Consider it as Avandaniya (unworthy of respect) if a Gachchhayak is negligent for even a moment without any reason. Those who are not negligent in their essential duties even for a moment, despite the presence of great reasons, should be considered Vandaniya (worthy of respect), Pujaniya (worthy of worship), Darshaniya (worthy of seeing), and equal to the Siddha Buddhas who have attained the state of Kshina (diminished) karma, free from the dust of karma. The rest will be explained in detail in its respective place. Sutra-1393

According to this, those who, after hearing the method of Prāyaścitta (atonement), do not practice the proper rituals for consuming the doshas (faults) with a mind devoid of humility, and who put in as much effort as is required in the place where it is needed, are called Aradhak Atma (worshipping soul). In times of fear from water, fire, wild animals that tear flesh, thieves, kings, snakes, Yoginis, ghosts, Yakshas, Rakshasas, Kshatras, Pisachas, death, disease, pain, obstacles, hindrances, livelihood, forests, the sea, evil thoughts, bad omens, etc., remember this Vidya (knowledge).
